Stocks Continue Lack of Activity New York. Nov. 27 "ll'i The itnck market Idled through to day's two-hour short session with activity around the slowest Sat urday pa 01 ,ne year. The absence from Wall street of many traders, who took ad vantage of the Thanksgiving day holiday for a long week end, plus th eustomarv Saturday contrac tion In dealings, accounted for the lack of activity. For the most part gains and losses were small with only a few stocks breaking out of a 1-point range in either direction. For the week as a whole, the market showed a loss of more than $1, 500,000,000, reflecting primarily the start of year-end tax selling. . Business news, it has been pointed out repeatedly. Is as good as it possibly can be, with pros pects for early 1949 just as good In the opinion of most Wall street- ers. But because of the new con cern over the situation in China and the fact that the Berlin im passe appears to be as far from a compromise as when the allied air lift began six months ago, small Investors are reluctant to acquire stock.
