Jensen Wraps Up
Coast Conference
Offense Title
Los Angeles, Nov. 24 HPi Jar-
rin's Jackie Jensen, battering full'
' back who led California to an un
. defeated season and the Rose
bowl, has wrapped up the Pacific
coast conferences total offense
title.
The big, blond all-American
hopeful picked up 170 yards
against Stanford last week end
to lead Cal to its narrow 7 to
win over the Indians. Without
Jensen, the Bears probably would
have wound up with the also-rans
this season. His total yaidage
gained was 1160, with 1010 yards
coming on the ground where he
averaged 7.4 yards a carry In 137
tries, conference statistics showed
Leads Passers
Oregon, which tied Cal for the
conference title but missed out in
- the balloting for the roses, boast
; ed the loop's other big offensive
star, quarterback Norm Van
: B roe Win was second to Jensen in
' total offense and for the second
straight season took the passing
title. Van Brocklin connected
on 68 of 139 passes for 1010 yards
ana a ibk average.
Four conference teams still
have one non-league game to go.
. but most of the individual titles
are already sewed up. Jack Swan
er, the other half of the California
.' double-Jacks combination, has
scored 66 points to lead PCC
scorers: UCLA's Art Steffen
seems certain to get the punting
. title with a 45.8 yard average: and
- Paul Keckley of the Bears leads
;witn seven pass interceptions in
. mat department.
Wllklns Ahead
' Oregon's Dick Wilklns, who has
already set two conference pass
. catching records, may see one of
lis marks cracked by iran Pols
; foot of Washington State next
.Saturday. Wllkins finished his
season's play last Saturday
; against uregon state with a total
i of 27 catches for 520 yards. Pols
t foot with one game still to play,
" has 25 catches, one more than the
I old league record.
