Insurance from her husband's Army policy was finally paid to
Mrs. John S. Power, of Washington, D. C, when President Trunian
took a hand at cutting red tape that had stymied payments for 10
months. Power, an Army civilian economist, was killed In an air
plane crash last January, but it wasn't until the President, nearly -a
year later, ordered the Defense Department and the Veterans
Administration to make an investigation that Mrs. Power, shown
with her three children, got paid. '

ence, moreover, was said to re
flect continued concern over the
situation in China and the Berlin

By and large the dally grist of
business and corporation news
has been extremely favorable
over a long period with only an
occasional bleak item, such as to
day's omission of, a dividend by
Reo motors, which had been
paying 62 H cents a share.
But because of the foreign out
look, and all the speculation since
Nov. 2 on the course to be follow
ed by the new Truman adminis
tration, the small Investor is hesi
tant about making new commit

whether criminal charges could
be lodged against the former
child singer and his press agent,.
Breen denied that he or his
employes' had engineered - a
scheme to gain free advertising.
He said it was "just an unfor
tunate series of circumstances."

search for Breen in sub-freezing
weather were outspoken in their
opinion that they were taken lor

those hours in the woods hunting
