Miss Fossen, Jean McCall, Brides-Elecf Pre holiday engagement an nouncements are In the social (spotlight these days, promising that a number of brilliant wed dings will highlight the winter season. One of the most recent addi tions to the ranks of brides-elect Is Miss Barbara Kossen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Antone Kossen, of 538 State street. Her betrothal to Gordon W. Parr, of Portland, has just been announced. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn A. Parr, of Portland. The wedding is planned for next February, in Bend. Miss Kossen, who was graduat ed from the University of Oregon after finishing high school In Bend, has been employed in Port land with the Multnomah county welfare department. Her fiance, also an Oregon graduate, finished college after returning from army service in the south Pacific. He served 40 months, and held the rank of lieutenant. He is associat ed with his father In the retail lumber business. Miss Fossen and her fiance were In Bend this past week end to visit her parents. Miss McCull To Wed Another engagement of interest locally is that of Miss Jean Mc Call to. Richard W. Babson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter S. Bab son, of Portland. Miss McCall is the younger daughter of Mrs. Henry McCall and the late Henry McCall of Westernwold, on Crook ed river. ' The couple met at Reed co""fje, where both were students. He left for military service with the army medical corps, and spent four years in Alaska and Europe. The wedding will be an event of late December. PROGRAM DATE CHANGED The 4-H achievement program will be held for the Eastern Star, Boyd Acres, Six Corners and Al falfa communities on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m., Instead of Nov. 19, It was announced today. Women are being asked to bring cookies or donuts, and all Inter ested are being invited to attend. The program will be at the Eastern Star grange hall. Academy of Friendship, Wom en of the Moose, will sponsor a roast turkey dinner Sunday at Moose hall, from 3 to 7 p.m. The public Is being invited to attend. First will be the meeting at which Miss Sylvia Vcateh will speak on her trip to Europe, this Tiiursduy evening at the home of Mrs. C. E. Stranahan, president. A buffet supper at the home of Mrs. Carl Johnson is planned for December 16. This is to be the annual Christmas party, and a program of music and other en tertainment is being arranged by Mrs. Wilson Bilyeu, program chairman. Another event, of Interest to the entire community, is the art and hobby show which AAUW Is sponsoring on December 5, In the library auditorium. . Mrs. Stranahan also reminded members of the exhibit of oils and water colors by Rev. Fred C. Wissenbaeh, of Klamath Kails, to be held In the Episcopal parish hall Thursday and Friday of this week. Members with time to give for the Community Chest drive were asked to get In touch with Mrs. Joe Elder, 1104. Miss Ivy Grover, treasurer, add ed the reminder that the dead line for memberships is Decem ber 1. Beiidoniun Danclntr club will have its first formal party of the season - Saturday night at the Bendonian studio, 1001 East Penn. Ernie Traxler's orchestra will provide music from 9 p.m. to mid night, and there will be an Inter mission for refreshments. A prac tice session, for special help with new steps, will precede the party at 8 o'crock. The regular weekly Instruction class will be Wednes day at 8 p.m., at the studio. , Evergreen circle will meet Thursday at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. J. J. Berrigan, with Mrs. Mai tinus Anderson as assistant hostess. Mrs. Roy E. Youngberg and Mrs. Roy Walter will be on the entertainment committee. . With this goal In mind, the ways and means committee, O.E.S., is planning tb sponsor an apron sale December 9 and 10, with Mis. Mark Howbrook, asso ciate matron, as general chair man. Committees and location for the sale will be announced at the regular chapter meeting No vember 22. Pine Forest Home Economics club will meet Thursday at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Clarence Ives, in Carroll Acres. A stork shower will be held for one of the members, it was announced. ... COLLECT CLOTHING Madras, Nov. 16 Merchants here are aiding all churches of the city in a used clothing drive, which will end next Monday. On Monday the garments, following cleaning and mending by wom en's groups, will be packaged and forwarded to Portland headquar ters of a statewide collection.
