New York, Oct. 22 U'' The stock market rose fractions to around 2 points today as substan tial buying developed in steel and oil shares. Trading picked up to the best pace since last July 19. Wildcat Walkout Idles Thousands Detroit, Oct. 22 (IP) Production returned to normal at the Chrys ler corporation's main Dodge plant today after a one-day wild cat strike idled 8,000 workers. But a dispute affecting 6,000 United States Rubber company employes kept the plant shut down for the second day. The Dodge plant workers were sent home yesterday after 24 men in the trim department walked out in protest of disciplinary action against an employe Wednesday. The trouble was settled in time for afternoon shifts to report yes terday. A dispute over production stan dards caused 500 employes in the rubber company's tire inspection department to walk out Wednes day. The company was forced to suspend operations and send 6,000 workers home. A company spokesman said he "had no idea" when the dispute would be settled. He said no meet ings with union representatives were scheduled.
