National Contest
Entrants Selected
The Deschutes county Local
Leaders association awards, com
mittee composed of Mrs. Arnold
Sandwlck, Mrs. Nolan Turner and
R. E. Lynds, with the aid of the
club agent, Donald L. Benscoter,
have selected the county winners
who will compete in the State for
National Contests.
The national committee on boys
and girls club work cooperating
with the extension service, the
state agricultural colleges and the
U. S. department of agriculture
sponsored the national contests
this year.
Marjorie Davidson of Young's
school district is the county win
ner of the recreation contest. She
will receive a blue ribbon. Mar
jorie is also the winner in the
garden contest.
John Kiesow Winner
John Kiesow of Glen Visla is
the county winner in the achieve
ment contest John Is eligible to
compete in both the state and na
tional achievement contest. The
awnrd for a national winner is a
college scholarship of $200. John
is also the county winner in the
4-H meat animal contest. John will
receive a gold filled medal of hon
or. John exhibited the champion
pen of fat hogs at the P. I.
Mary Ann Kiesow, also of Glen
Visia, is the winner of a gold
filled medal of honor for winning
the girls' record contest. Mary
Ann is also the contest winner in
the clothing contest and will re
ceive another gold filled medal of
honor.
Tumalo Boy Wins
Lawrence Allen of Tumalo was
chosen as the county winner of
the dairy production contest. Law
rence will receive a gold filled
medal of honor. John Kiesow of.
Glen Vista will receive a silver"
filled medal as he placed second
in the dairy production contest.
Betty Koth Wins
Betty Koth of Glen Vista was
announced as the county winner
of the canning contest and will re
ceive a gold filled medal of honor.
Tommy Burton of the Young
school district is the 4-H poultry
achievement winner. Tommy will
receive a sterling silver medal of
