13 Years in Jail
Olympia, Wash, Sept. 23 IP)

13 years for murder today appear

Attorney General Smith Troy
sent a written recommendation to
Gov. Mon G. Wallgren today for
Boggle's pardon. Wallgren had
asked Troy to investigate the case
after mystery writer Erie Stanley
Gardner made extensive inquiries
and a Seattle newspaper (Times)
printed articles describing its own
investigation.
Troy said that as result of his
office's investigation, supplement
ed by those of Gardner and the Se

of Boggie's innocence and am rec
ommending to the governor that
he grant an unconditional par
don." .
Mon Smith, the warden at the
state prison, announced several
weeks ago he was convinced Bog
gle was innocent. Also, the Rev.
William A. Gilbert, rector of St.
Paul's Episcopal church in Walla
Walla, Wash., where the state
prison is located, said he believed
Boggie did not commit the crime.
