All Hollywood, as well as po lice and the coroner's office, spec ulated whether the motive was a one-way romnnce with Harrison, money and career troubles, or ill ness. Miss Landis after four hours of solitary debate In her big, lonely home overlooking the ocean, curled up on her yellow bathroom rug and swallowed a fatal dose of pain pills Monday night. Pills Studied Coroner's aides wore making lests to find out exactly what the pills were. Other chemists were testing four other drug bottles found in her bathroom. Coroner Ben Brown said there probably would be no inquest. But he said he will not decide definitely until he gets the chem ical reports. The 29-year-old star's mother, Mrs. Clara Landis, stil was too shocked to make funeral plans. She, the star's brother Lawrence, and her estranged fourth hus band, Producer Horace Schmid lapp, expected to announce the funeral arrangements late today. Harrison said both he and his wife, Actress LI11I Palmer, plan ned to go to the funeral. , "We both liked her very much Indeed " Harrison said. "But Miss Landis and I were just friends. . "She was not In love with me. She never, never told me she loved me; "I don't fear appearing at any inquest into her death. I will be glad to answer any ques tions." Harrison, who had been lunch ing, swimming and dining with MIhs Landis nearly every day since his wife went to New York, said the only worry she men tioned Sunday was over "general financial troubles."
