Saving Time, July 26, 1948, for
all the live timber marked or des
ignated for cutting and all mer
chantable dead timber located on
an area embracing about 160
acres within Sections 28 and 33,
T. 20 S., R. 9 E., W.M., Lookout
Mountain Area, Deschutes Na
tional Forest, Oregon, estimated
to be 622,000 feet B.M., more or
less, of oonderosa pine and 18,000
feet B.M., more or less, lodgepole
pine sawtimber. Sealed Bids ac
companied by required payment
received by the Forest supervisor
prior to 2:00 p.m.. Daylight Sav
ing Time. July 26, 1948, will be
considered the equivalent of an
oral bid and posted for the infor
mation of all bidders. No bid of
less than $11.80 per M feet B.M.
for ponderosa pine and $2.00 per
M feet B.M. for lodgepole pine
will be considered. In addition
to prices bid for stumpage, a
cooperative deposit of S1.50 per
M feet B.M., to be used by the
Forest Service for paying the
cost of slash disposal and a co
operative deposit of $2.00 per M
feet B.M. to cover the cost of tree
planting, seed, sowing and timber
stand improvement on the area
cut over for the total cut of tim
ber under the terms of the agree
ment, will be rfwuired. A payment
of $2,500.00 to' bo applied on the
purchase price, refunded, or re
tained in part as liquidated dam
ages according to the conditions
of sale, must accompany each
sealed bid and must be shown to
be in the possession of oral bid
ders as a qualification for auction

to be high at the closing of the
auction, the bidder must imme

Mrs. Anderson
Illness Victim
Mrs. John S. Anderson, of 282
Jefferson, a resident of Bend for
the past 19 years, died Monday
afternoon at St. Charles hospital,
following a lingering illness. She
was 70 years of age.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Nis
wonger and Winslow chapel, with
Rev. Carsten Brien, of First Luth
eran church, officiating. Burial
will follow in the local cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson, the former
Maren Shervey, was a native of
Frondjheim, Norway. She came
to America at an early age. Be
sides her husband, she is survived
by eight children, 14 grandchil
dren, one great-grandchild, three
brothers and four sisters.
Sons and daughters are Mrs.
VVes Brown, Roland Anderson,
Mrs. Peter Lavelle and Mrs. Bud
Russell, all of Bend; Mrs. Fritz
Wallen, Beaverton; Mrs. Ralph
Gillette, North Bonneville, Wash.;
Sivert Anderson, Redmond, and
John Anderson, Klamath Falls.
Brothers are Severen Shervey,
of Portland; Andrew Shervey, of
Milan, Minn., and Iver Sharvey,
of Potomac, Virginia. Sisters are
Mrs. Knute Overberg, Portland;
Mrs. Anna Nelson, Milan, Minn.;
