Nazi Physicians
Are Accused Of
New Atrocities
Chicago, Nov. 21 UP Nazi
physicians tried to transplant hu
man legs and subjected innocent
victims to sterilizing doses of
X-rays, the Journal of the Ameri
can Medical association reported
today.
An article on the brutalites o(
nazi doctors declared some ct the
experiments were sadistic and
were performed by pseudo-scientists
and untrained personnel
without adequate reason.
Twenty-three nazi physicians
will go on trial Dec. 5 at Nuern
berg, Germany, charged with the
crime of having conducted experi
ments on human beings resulting

upon a report by Dr. A. C. Ivy.

of Illinois, who had been picked
to represent the association in
an investigation of these acts.
An attempt was made by the
nazi physicians to increase the
rate of reproduction of the Ger
man people through multiple
ovulation and conception, the re
port said.
"Indecencies characterized these
experiments," the article said.
"Studies were made to ascer
tain how a population could be
sterilized without their knowl-!
edge, so that the sterilisation :
would be accomplished without I
the fact becoming available for
propaganda by enemies of thej
reich.
Men, Women Exposed
"One method under study was
to place the dried juice of a plant
in the food of the population. An- j
other was to expose men -and
women to a dose of X-rays while I
they were filling out government '
lorms.
"A third method consisted in
injecting a sterilizing agent dur-1
ing the course of a routine physi-;
cal examination of the women of
the population.
"Attempts were made to trans-1
plant legs and other organs :

has shown to be impracticable. In ,
one instance, a piece of "hair-grow-:
ing skin' was transplanted to the

Labor-Industry
Courts Advocated

Establishment of labor-industry
appeal courts for settlement of
labor disputes was advocated in a
resolution adopted late Wednes
day by the national grange, in
SOth annual convention here.
The resolution, while recogniz
ing the right of labor to organize,
urged that such courts have suf
ficient authority to act and that
they be clothed with federal
status. I
Before coming up for appeal in
the courts, disputes would go be
fore a joint labor-industry-agricultural
conference, according to
the resolution's proposal. Also
proposed was a 30-day "cooling
off" period after decision by such
a court and that the courts be
empowered to "order state or fed
eral seizure and operation of a
plant pending settlement in cases
of strikes or lockouts endanger
ing public health or safety.

Ellis' companion, Edward Marie
ga, 19, of Milwaukee, Wis., also
was listed as AWOL from the
military reservation since Au
gust. Police took Mariega into cus
tody during the gun battle Tues
day after the. pair had stolen a
car in Vero Beach.
A posse of 75 policemen began
the search for the youths Monday
after they stole a police car and
abducted two Fort Pierce police
men who were attempting to
bring them to headquarters for
questioning.
