Sports Feature At Gym Friday
Sharing the spotlight with the
boys' basketball teum. Bend high
school girls will have leature
spots on the program tor the Eugene-Bend
schedule Friday night
In the school gymnasium.
The preliminary game wil be
played at 7 p.m. by two inter
class teams from the senior high
girls' physical education classes,
composed of seniors captained by
Joan Obernolte and sophomores
with June Nysteen as chief.

Mrs. William J. Baer was hon
ored at a surprise birthday party
Saturday evening at her home.
Pinochle was in play during- the
evening, after which aupper was
served at,the Oasis dining room.

Hugh Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh
Dugan, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ross,

man White of San Francisco, who
were house guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Joe Ross.
Mrs. Baer received many lovely
gifts from the guests. Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Daly and Mr. and Mrs.
Cap Johnson also sent gifts, but

Powell Butte Club Has
Meeting At Cronin Home
Powell Butte, Feb. 21 (Special)
Mrs. John Cronin entertained
the Sorosis club Wednesday after
noon at her home. The ladies tied
a quilt while they visited. The
visitation committee reported that
Mrs. S. D. Mustard and Mrs. E.
!h. Stewart had been confined to
j their homes by illness for several
I weeks. It was announced that the
i next meeting will be Feb.- 27, with
i Mrs. Lloyd Bussett as hostess.
CARD PAETY PLANS MADE
Plans have been completed for
the annual public card party spon
sored by the Knights of Columbus,
it was announced today by Reuel
B. O'Leary, chairman. The affair
will be held in the Catholic parish
hall at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.
Both bridge and pinochle will be in
play, and refreshments will be
served.
60th Wedding
Anniversary
Is Celebrated
Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Vice of Ter
rebonne celebrated their sixtieth
wedding anniversary last Sunday
at the home of, their daughter,
Mrs. E. J. Mollman, In Terre
bonne. Features of the day were
a dinner party for members of
the immediate family and an open
house later In the afternoon, at
tended by many friends of the
couple.
Mr. and Mrs. Vice, who are 85
and 78 respectively, were married
in Missouri, later moving to Ok
lahoma to take a homestead. For
the past 13 years their home has
been in Oregon. They came to
Terrebonne five years ago from
Newburg.
The immediate family' includes
two (daughters, Mrs. T, A. Beaslev
of Newburg and Mrs. E. J; Moll
man of Terrebonne, two sons, C.
C. Vice of Powell Butte and Fay
Vice of Sterling, Colo., 17 grand
children and 13 great-grandchildren.
Present for the dinner party
were Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Vice and
son, Charles, who returned re
cently from military service in
Japan, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Vice of
Powell Butte, Mrs. Porter
Sprague and daughter; Barbara
of Prineville, Mr. and Mrs. raw
A. Smith and children, Paula,
Hazel and Gary Bill, of Bend and
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Mollman and

Mrs. Vice wore a lovely grey
dress with a corsage of pink car
nations. A feature of the occa
sion was a musical cake plate
that played the wedding march.
During the afternoon, ice cream
and cake were served to friends
who called to offer congratula
tions. '.
Sunshine Club Has
Election Tuesday
Mrs. F. N. Van Matre was elect
ed chairman of the Sunshine cluto
at the reeular meetine held Tues
day afternoon at the home of
Mrs. R.- D. Ketchum. Other new
officers who were named are Mrs.
Homer Roush, vice-chairman and
Mrs. Lawrence Blakely, secretary.
Final plans were made for the
rummage sale to be held next
Tuesday jn the Montgomery Ward
building, under sponsorship'of the
Pythian Sisters. Mrs. Gertrude
McFadden, general chairman, will
be assisted by Mrs. Nora Loree
and Mrs. Vina Hartwig in the
morning and Mrs. yan Matre in
the afternoon.
After the business meeting, the
social hour was in the form of a
Valentine party. Women present

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
Hall of Terrebonne, ana wiinam
F. Minkler, sou of Mr. and Mrs.
W. F. Minkler of Seattle. The
wedding was solemnized at 8 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 8. at the home of the
bride's aunt and uncle, Mr. and
Mrs. Emmet McAllister, in Seat
tle. Rev. Sachette officiated and Mr.
and MrsvMcAllister were attend
ants. - .-
For her wedding, the bride wore
teal blue with white accessories
and a corsage of white gardenias
and carnations. Mrs. McAllister
wore black, with a pink carnation
corsage.
Following the service, the wed
ding cake and coffee were served.
The bride is a graduate of Red
mond Union high school with the
class of 1944 and until recently
was employed a,s an operator in
the office of the Northwest Tele
phone company in Redmond. Her
husband returned last fall from
Germany, where he served with
the ninth air fqree. Before leav
ing for overseas duty he was
stationed for some. time at the
Redmond air base. Previous to
enlisting in the air corps he was
a student at the University of
Washington, where he will soon
resume his studies., .,'
After a short wedding trip, the
couple will make their home at
5507 Kenwood place, , Seattle,
Wash.

Allied Arts club will meet at 2
o'clock Monday afternoon, Feb. 25,
at the home of Mrs. E. V. Ward,
520 Riverside drive. Mrs. Allen
Young will have charge of the pro
gram.
