Convicts Riot; Four Men Hurt San Quentin, Cal., March 26 ill'i Four men were injured in a small-scale riot involving some 30 convicts in San Quentin prison mess hall yesterday. The disturbance started when an apple was thrown at a table at which white and negro convicts were seated together. The apple was followed by a hail of cutlery, tin cups and dishes. Some 2,500 Inmates were in the hall at the time. Six guards on duty quelled the outbreak by firing shots over the rioters' heads into the walls. The 1944 American consump tion of rubber, both synthetic and natural, was 713,000 tons.of which four-fifths was American-made synthetic.
