Walzer ' (United Preu Financial Editor) New York, March 10 HP) Pres sure lifted on the stock market today on sharply contracted trad ing. Prices came hack fractions 1o more than a point over a fair ly broad list. Issues hardest hit in the selling of the past two sessions the rails and steels were prominent on the upturn. Preferred utilities had gains ranging to more than a point. Leading motors strength ened. An Improved tone came Into airlines, oils, mercantlles, and communications. United States Steel rose nearly a point and Bethlehem more than a point. In the motors, Packard was active and off a small frac tion while Chrysler gained more than a point. Santa Fe led the rails with a VA point gain. Park & Tilford gained more than 2 points while Hiram Walker lost a point. Westinghouse Electric rose 2 points. International Telephone led in turnover and rose more than a point. Chemicals firmed in light dealings. Sears Hoehuck gained more than a point.
