ter trade on the Portland dairy
market was pleased today with
news of an Impending cut in ra
tion points for butter, although
feeling there may be a slacking
off in purchases pending the new
order.
The egg market held firmly
with prices maintained. More tur
keys were needed, while prices
held well for live and dressed
chickens.

the week ended April 15 of. com
paratlvo figures on lumber or
ders, shipments and production,
based on information from 106
identical mills:
Orders for western pine lumber
totaled 76,786,000 feet as com
pared with 71,693 feet for the
previous week and 84,527,000 feet
for the corresponding week last
vear.
Similar comparisons of ship
ments are: 67,708,000 feet, 73,
382.000 feet and 70.536,000 feet,
and of production are: 66,532,000
feet, 64,379,000 feet and 64,243,000

responsibility is two-fold the un
derstanding of delinquency prob
lems and now they should be
handled in the home, and the pro
vision of wholesome places where
children may expend their natural
energy. The Juvenile authority's
point on the limitation placed on
officers by law In relation to dis
position of wayward children un
der 14 years of age was elaborated
upon by Redmond's chief of po
lice, Athel Dudley, who spoke aft
er Wells. Dudley called for the
consideration of a detension home "
in the county for children whose
age forbids their being held In
any place of punishment where
adult law-violators are also de
tained. A man in Tapachula, 620 miles
from Mexico City, is a diabetic,
and receives a special loaf of bread
by air express daily.
