Driver Pleads Guilty
in Intoxication Case
Joseph Martin Holland of Bend en
tered a plea of guilty today in jus
tice court to a charge of driving
while intoxicated. He was sentenced
to 30 days in the county jail, fined
$100, and hi driver's license was
revoked. Holland was remanded to
the custody of the sheriff.
He was arrested yesterday by State
Patrolman George Starr on The Dal-

Game in Tournament
Wichita, Kan., Aug. 21 nil The
1939 national semi - pro baseball
tournament was close to a climax
today, but at least a dozen team
remained in the competition with a
chance to survive and capture the
lo.OOO first prize money.
Four teams have won three games.
They are the Silverton, Or., Red Sox,
owned by Tom Yawkey, the presi
dent of the Boston American league
club; Buford, Ga., Bono Allen, the
1938 title winner; Enid, Okla., Cham
plins, and the Mount Pleasant, Texas,
Cubs. All were in the final money
last season.
Silverton defeated the Wichita All
Steeln, 6-0, yesterday.
