FOLLOW THE CROWD
If one would loud a peaceful ill, it's will to join the
herd, avoiding arguments and strife on themes that seem
absurd. 1 have beliefs of startling sort, and sometimes l
would rise, and rant and thunder and exhort, and make the
people wiso. Hut I recall the chap who wrought his
theories to explain, till brickbats hit his dome of thought
and filled tho same with pain. In all the ages gifted tnen
have suffered 'and have died, because with ardent tongue
or pen, Btrange theories they supplied. The man who
planned the telescope was in a dungeon cast, until he would
recant the dopo that made men stand aghast. We do not

MOHK SCHOOL BU11.DINOS
The commercial club has on its
program an inspection of the new
high school building first planned
for a date now some weeks past and
unavoidably postponed from time to
time since then. If the interior of
tho building is as creditable as the
exterior the visitors will find a very
satisfactory school for the youth of
this district. We are sure that will
be the case.
While they are looking the build
ing over and congratulating the dis
trict on its new acquisition, we sug
gest that they would do well to he
giving some thought to the future
building needs of the district. We
aro told" that within a year or two
all the facilities of the two local
school districts, that is. district 1
and union high district 2. will be
taxed to their utmost. Instead of
providing room for expansion the
new building merely relieves the
crowded condition that has existed
for several years past. Still other
buildings are to be needed in the
near future.
The matter Is of particular inter
est at the present time because of the
proposal now before the voters of the
city to authorize a large bond isstte
for other purposes. Bend is an im
portant part of both district. Its af-'
tain Interlock with those of the other
taxing districts of which it is a part.
An expensive water system affects
the development of the schools and
Hie school program should properly
be developed with due regard to
other conditions.
Here is a chance to study and de
velop fucts relating to an important
matter.
