sports, and a delightful luncheon was

The Bend Study club held Its final
meeting of the club year Monday af
ternoon at the home of Mrs. J. C.
Vandevert. The concluding papers
on the study topic, "South America,"
were on the subjects "Literature and
Art" and Religion." the first pre
sented by Mrs. R. D. Miles and the
second by Mrs. A. Whisnant. A de
licious luncheon was serred In the
late afternoon. ' i
The Wednesday Bridge club met
this week at the home of Mrs. H. E.
Allen on Front street. Mrs. J. E.
Herbert and Mrs. A. M. Tringle were
the priie winners of the afternoon.
Congratulations are being received
by Mr. and Mrs. Norman Boles upon
the arrival of a baby daughter, born
Thursday morning, who will bear the
name Nancy Anne.

The guild of the Episcopal church
held Its regular meeting yesterday
afternoon att the home Mrs. J. C
Rhodes. Following a short business
meeting, the afternoon 'was devoted
to Bewing. Light refreshments were
served at the usual hour.
Mrs. E. J. Catlow entertained with
' a 4 o'clock dinner Sunday afternoon,
honoring the birthday anniversary of
Mr. Catlow. Those enjoying the hos
pitality of the Catlow home were:

The Sunshine club met this after
noon at the borne of Mrs. Victor
Buckingham. The club, which is
working along charitable lines, on
this occasion spent the afternoon in
packing a box for the destitute Ar
menians. At 4 o'clock a light lunch

eration of Women's Clubs, the Bend

Miss. Doris Foster, whose engage
ment to Vernon Manny, son of Mrs.
Carrie D. Manny, has recently been
announced, was the honor guest at a
bridal shower given Thursday eve
ning at the home of the Misses Eve
lyn Carlson and Ida Benson. The
presentation of gifts was brought
about In a novel way. The bride
elect was requested to seek a "bid-
guide line. At the end of the quest
every good wish for future happi
ness was extended and the remainder
of the evening spent with social
pleasures and the enjoyment of a
delicious luncheon. The guest list
included the teachers of Reid school,
where Miss Foster has taught for the
past three years, and a few other
friends.

of 28 and Is planning a full program
for service. On Tuesday plans were
outlined for the giving of a public
entertainement, called "The County
Fair," some time within the near
future, at which time a sale of chil
dren's garments will also be put on.

ladies, who spent the evening with
cards until their husbands, who had
been attending a special meeting of
