THE LIBRARY It is a pleasure to note the grow' lng success of the Deschutes count; ( library and the increasing use being! made of it by the people of Bend and I other communities. Here at the' central library, the number of read-1 ess seems to increase with each new ! accession of books. The same thing I ' must be true elswhere because, with a wider variety to choose from, more people find the volumes they are in terested in. What the new service means in the north end of the county is indi cated in the latest issue of the Red mond Spokesman, which reports im provements in the Redmond library and the addition of a number of new books to the Terrebonne library, all made possible by the new county sys tem. At Redmond the annual fee for use of the library has been done away with, better care is to be given the books, and more frequent oppor tunity to use the institution ar ranged. Slowly the service will be come available all over the county.; Mexico's been aching: a loner and wearv time; and every clay, on breaking, rings in hew .curves in crime; her trumps of war are tooting, her heroes callyhooting, and some one's busy shoot ing as I produce this rhyme. She springs a brand new ruler, arrayed in brass and plush; next he's in the cooler or sprinting for the brush; avengers hike behind him, as ''traitor" they've denned him, ' and balls and buckshot grind him and halt his frenzied rush. Old Mexico is plastered with wealth of every sort; and if the chumps were mastered who paw around and snort, she well might be lop sided with "profits undivided," her robes would be provided with diamonds by the quart. Her hills are full of rubies, her plains are rich with grass; her fiery,, martial boobies might raise fine garden sass; they find a pleasure greater in chasing some cheap traitor, to seat some "liberator" attired in plush and brass. Old Mexico was scrapping before the world war's start; and still her men are yap ping and shooting up the mart; the way they're raising thunder and treading chances under and boosting senseless plunder would break a sane man's heart.
