"Anyway, We Did Our Damndest"
Rudynnl Kipling.
To keep the town in gasoline. First, we tried to sup
ply every comer with fuel with which to keep his
car going. Then we found that the supply was in
sufficient to accommodate everybody--then we began
limiting our supply to our trade only. Our trade
embraces something more than 1 50 cars, all of which
were sold by us in Bend.
Honestly folks we can't get gasoline. Repeatedly we have made
long hard trips to Redmond, Madras, Prineville, Sisters and Culver,
in a determined effort to get gasoline for our customers. We realize
what it means to be able to supply gasoline to dur trade.
But We Find That Gasoline Cannot Be Obtained.
Yes, we have been charging high prices prices which may have
seemed exhorbitant, but in good faith we say that the charge we
have made has scarcely covered the actual cost of going on the long
trips.
Service to us means going the limit to obtain what our customers
have desired. And believe us, by all hooks and crooks of the game
we have tried to get gasoline for you. We believe now we have
gone the limit. We're sorry; but can't help it.
