the Columbia river tonight.
They reportedthe road from the
Harney line to be very slow, but
from the latter poiut to Bend, over
' the new work recently completed,
much better time was made.' In
order to keep the , new road . in
;. shape, a plan was proposed by Mr.
'. Nunn last night for, maintenance
during the summer, with the com
mission and the county cooperating,
and it Is expected that the plan
will be adopted. , .... .'
Bond Prices Factor.

cently called for bids on several
pieces of work to be done this
summer, recent developments in the!
bond market and the price situation
suggest the- desirability, according
to Mr. Kiddle,' of proceedingslow
ly with any new work, even though

shortage of labor, which is also a
