PAOK 4 TBE BEND lUTl.MCTIN. DAILY EDITION. 1IKNU. OREGON, WEDNESDAY, MAttCIM!, 10 JO PREDICTS NON-STOP 4,340-MILE FLIGHT Si'IciiUnCb Calculations Show l'os slbllUU'.i for Airplane Rouble Today's Record. By Hour)' Wood. B United Pram Staff Corrwpondcnt) PARIS, March 3. Aviation has now been developed to a point where an airplane, theoretically at least, can fly for ' 6,950 kilometers (4,340 miles) without stopptug. This Is the conclusion which has just been presented to the French Academy of Sciences by Monsieur Rataud, one of the best Qualified French scientists on the subject. Rntnud's rejiort shows the possibilit ies of the airplane of today as calcu lated from the standpoint of algebra, engineering and every science that enters Into aviation. While the con clusions reached by Rataud exceed In each Instance what the airplane has accomplished to date, yet they I are mathematically, and scientifical ly correct as to what today's airplane is capable of doing. As regards distance Rataud has demonstrated that Dying at an alti tude of S.2S2 meters with a double reserve of gasoline the airplane of today is capable of a continuous flight of 6.950 kilometers. As a matter of fact, of course, the longest non-stop flight to date is 3.500 kilo meters. Rataud's calculations imply that no accident or other deterring element enters into the flight. Mrs. J. J.
