Having had a thorough whipping on the fiokl of death and gore, we may see the Germans skip ping back to useful task and chore. Having dumped the old ambitions, having scrapped the Wilhelm dream, they get down to new conditions, and in trade they'd be supreme. While the other wrang ling nations yap around and paw the" air, back to old time occupations go the Germans, everywhere. With a single earnest purpose they go back to forge and loom, while our foaming windsmiths chirp us songs of anarchy and doom. If we do not quit our yipping, making smoke and fur ascend, Germany, that got the whipping, will be winner in the end. For she's heating up her boilers and she's speeding up her mills, and her brawny, husky toilers go to work, with loyal wills. While we rant around and clamor of our rights and of our wrongs Germany takes up the hammer and sounds forth the work time gongs. Watch the Germans, see them germ ing, in their old efficient way, while we're squeak ing, squabbling, squirming for a big advance in pay. AT THE HOTELS. Pilot Hullo Inn. 1). The Treasury savings movement Is not a campaign for a single year, bnt a continuing growing force in American life. The results already obtained fully justify Its continu ance. Millions of people who before the war never laid aside anything now have goodly amounts invested In Government securities. Millions who were wasteful and improvident are now thrifty. The policy for the continuance of the movement Is clearly defined. The business of the Savings Organiza tion is to promote saving and the purchase (from the Treasury or in the market) and continued holding of United States Government war se curities of at) kinds. Saving is taught not as an end in itself but as a means to investment in United States war securities and continued holding thereof. The '"holding" ft? as important as is the "buying," be cause holding protects the Govern ment's credit and the Treasury has more borrowing to do. The Treasury savings movement is one of the great forces of recon struction and merits the continued support of those who in the past have worked for its success and of those as well who up to the present j time have not learned the advantage j of saving and investment in Govern-j ment securities. themselves to vote other than an In-J terest in the schools. i How carefully do you address your letters?
