Most brake troubles are caused by poor brake lining which, in reality, is the heart and lungs of the brakes. Most linings are made of woven strips of tape which wear into holes and absorb moisture, oil and dust, making them unsafe. A motorist owes it not only to him self but to tho public and to the wo men and children in particular, to provide his car with every possible safeguard which will iusure'a city free of accidents, and therefore a comparatively safer city in which to live. 1920 MODEL DODGE HAS MANY CHANGES Lines IlmniUn Same a lloforr, In Conformity ullh I'ollry of Ifcxlire llrothers. Several interesting changes have been made in the latest models of Dodge cars. All are great Improie nients in the comfort quulliics of the car. It Is also Interesting to note how cleverly so many features could bo added without changing the lines of the car. which Dodge llrothera are so determined to maintain. "It has always been the policy of tho factory to protect the interests of the purchaser against a fictitious de preciation, due to a radical change in the design or model," says It. S. Mc Clure with the Walther-Willlums Co. "A conservative design was origi nally selected, and, although many changes, both mechanical' and in de sign have been made since the first cars were built, they have always maintained the original Dodge, cast. This is a great factor In the preser vation of used car values. "The rear seut has been widened about three inches, giving more room to the occupants of tho tonneau. The front seat reclines a little more than on former models. The rear fenders are build considerably longer, which not only Improves the looks of the car from the rear, but serves as a bet ter protection from mud ami dust. "A slanting windshield has been provided, as well as the new so-called "Gipsy" type of back curtain. Con struction of the doors has been changed to accomodate rods for the side curtains, so they may be opened with the doors. This latter Is a very valuable change, one that .buyers in this section of the country will appreciate." Put it in "THE BULLETIN." It has been the greatest touring year in the history of the country, according to Fred A. Adams, field secretary of the National Turks Highway association. "Tourists from every state In tho union with travel almost equally di vided between eust and westbound cars, have rubbed license plates along 3000 miles of highway from Chicago to the Pacific coast and from Puget Sound to Lake Michi gan." says Mr. Adams. Adams bases the value of motor travel on an estimate of 30.000 cars: that occupants of each car spent at least $15 a day while on the road; and that each of the 30,000 cars was on the highway a minimum of 20 days. "I consider the estimate' a very conservative one," he says. "This traffic was Interstate and does not take Into consideration the greatly increased volume of Intrastate motor travel. Expenditures by occupants of all cars has been so large that its value to all communities in dol lars and cents would read like a pro moters' prospectus." Although every city and town along the highway has benefited greatly in a financial way, " those towns he declares, which have estab lished free camp sites for tourists and provided accomodations for their comfort have reaped the greatest financial harvest. The countries of Europe are planning extensively to regain the transocea nic American travel lost during the war. Europe, however, has nothing to offer comparable with the scenic and recreational possibilities of the west." By proper educational campaign, Mr. Adams declares, tho former tide of European travel from America will be turned from oceanic to trans continental touring.
