taking up the steel on the O.-W. R.
& N. line up the Deschutes canyon,
and laying the rails down to connect
Bend with Burns, was the intimation
given this morning by William Han-
ley, wealthy Harney county rancher,
in speaking of his recent trip to
Washington, D. C where jie laid this
matter before the railroad adminis
tration. It can be done," was Mr.
Hanley's declaration, although be
had no definite Information as to the
time when such a policy might be
carried out. . ........
Mr. Hanley is anxious also (or
