Jack Long, a shcepherder em
ployed by Tom'Cronin suffered a
badly mnngled hand while endeavor
ing to aid in starting a stalled truck.
The hand was caught in the drive
chain and severely lacerated. He was
brought to Bend for treatment.

of the Cloverdale section, have taken
the Henry. Whitsett house on Greeley
avenue. Mr. Knickerbocker recently
sold" his ranch and will make his
home In Bend for the present.
Henry Whitsett has leased the
Ned J. Angland ranch at Powell
Butte and moved out to it with his
family.
Guy Sheppard came in from the
cruising, camp this morning to have
some dental work done.
Theodore P. Flynn was In town
this morning from the Indian creek
camp to meet his wife, who came In
from Portland.
V. C. Brock, appraiser for the
federal land bank, with headquarters
at Spokane, Is doing field work In
the vicinity of Bend. Many farmers
in this section are now availing
themselves of the opportunity to ob
tain loans from the federal bank.
Miss Fern Holden has recently ar
rived from Tacoma to take a position
with tha. Miller Lumber Co.
Leroy Fox, son ot L. L. Fox. was
a recent arrival at Camp Merritt, N.
J., from France and is expected, in
Bend soon. .
