doubt tho most striking western

It Is plain to be seen why when tho
picture was "being made it was said
that if someono wasn't 'killed In
making this dim It would be a suc

and the best of the kind ever shown.
The picture deals with a young man's

avenue. They arrived too early (or
any public demonstration. The men
from tbe Princess Matolka, however,
were given a rousing reception when
they were led through the main part
of the city by a group of most musical
band men.
"8oldiers and sailors of both ships
could talk of nothing but that 3000
mile race. When the Rljndam
steamed out from St. Nazalre the
skipper of tbe Matolka told his men
that they must beat the rival ship
to Newport News, though an hour's
difference lay between. The cap
tain of the Rijndam told his men that
unless they arrived at Newport News
ahead of the Matolka they would
have no leave, it Is said. Crews of
both ships prepared hilariously for
the contest. Firemen and coal
heavers were recruited ' from the
ranks of the units aboard. Ameri
can soldiers who bad long ago con
tested the right to the possession of
the famous cities and hills with the
Huns proved their never wearying
keenness for competition by leaping
to tbe boilers and engines."

one hour ahead of the Matolka. Tho
Rijndam men claim they won the
race.
