THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 1919.
A SMALL PRICE.
Reports are coming in from east
of the mountain counties that they
will 0Teraub8crlbe their Victory loan
quotas on the opening day.
Here Is an answer to the pessimists
who are saying that it will be hard
to put the loan OTer, that the people
will not, subscribe as readily 'as they
have heretofore. The people Hying
in eastern Oregon are all pretty much
alike. ' Their business problems' are
not, ' very different. Their patriot
ism is uniformly 100 per cent. If
. organization has progressed so far in
the counties already reporting that
they are able to promise their quotas
it Is certain that nothing but organi
' . ration is needed to make certain the
remainder.' There is no difference
in their patriotism nor in their ap
preciation of the fruits of victory.
Deschutes county has met its quota
on each of the past loans. A year
ago it subscribed nearly $250,000
, toward the' third loan, of practically
100 per cent more than it was asked
-for. Every subscriber to the third
loan has better reasons for taking
Victory bonds than be had for tak
. ing Liberty bonds a year ago. He
has the satisfaction of victory, of a
. completed job, of seeing the boys
come home. The price of a Victory
bond is a smalL one to pay for these
. things.
