phone meeting in Tumalo Saturday
afternoon.
G. M. Couch was a business visit
or in Bend Saturday evening, return
ing with a new body for his auto
which was wrecked recently.
Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Phelps were
calling on Harry Simpson at the
headgate Wednesday.
Chas. Spaugh purchased several
head of sheep from Harry Swisher
recently.
Mrs. C. W. Howell returned to
Hill Crest Monday after spending the
week at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Harry McGuire.
Mrs. C. Pederson spent Saturday
afternoon with Mrs. G. M. Couch.
Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Couch motored
to Bend Monday where Mrs. Couch
secured medical treatment.
Several of the young people of the
neighborhood attended the club dance
in Tumalo Saturday evening.
Jl. H. Bayley took a load of dressed
hogs to Bend Wednesday.
Melvin Couch attended the meting
In Tumalo, Friday evening for the
organization of a basket ball team. .
Mrs. G. W. .Snyder returned Wed
nesday from a visit with relatives at
Waitsburg, Washington. She was
accompanied home by her daughter,
Lenore, who has spent the past sev
eral months at Waitsburg.
C. H. Spaugh and family were
guests at the James Dawson home in
Plainview, Sunday.
Melvin Couch spent Sunday at the
Pullman home.
Mrs. Lucille Clarkston spent the
wek visiting with her sister, Mrs.
Harry McGuire.
SISTERS FARM LOAN
ASSOCIATION ELECTS
CLOVERDALE. Jan. 21. The
meeting of the Sisters National Farm
Loan Association was held at the
Cloverdale school house on the even
ing of Tuesday, January 14, and the
following officers elected: W. F. Fry
rear, president; C. A. Burnside, vice
president; A. E. Peterson, secretary
and treasurer, with H. C. Miller on
the board of directors.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beard and
daughters were callers at the Par
berry home on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hodson, F. J.
Burling, Mrs. A. E. Peterson and
Mrs. Harold Kline were business vis
itors in Bend Saturday.
J. A. Aldrich went to Portland on
Saturday with a carload of steers,
and from there made a flying trip
to Corvallis and returned to Clover
dale on the following Monday.
'Mrs. Arthur Templeton and Mrs.
I Irvin Parberry were luncheon guests
I at the Burling home on Saturday.
Mrs. Templeton has just returned to
Sisters from California with her
daughter, Mrs. Ed Spoo, of Sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kline and
Miss Roxy Morse spent Sunday
afternoon at the Ray Abbey home.
The Miller family has been ill with
the flu, but all are rapidly recover
ing. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Van Matre are
ill with the flu.
Ray Abbey was a business visitor
in Sisters on Wednesday.
Mrs. F. W.- Lanu was a caller at
the Harrison home on Saturday.
School commenced last Monday
after a two months' vacation. About
30 pupils are enrolled at present,
and school is running on Saturdays
now to make up for the time lost.

ing of the marriiige of Miss Anna
N'ootnagle, a Sisters girl, to Mr. Otto
Schenck oi Tacoma on January 4.
They will make their home, in Ta
coma. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Parberry were

home on Squaw creek.
Jennie and Dorothy Boyd spent
Sunday with the D. H. Long chil
dren. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Burnside were
callers at the Burling home on Sat
urday afternoon.

FEEDING CHANGE AT
POWELL BUTTE SEEN

year sees a marked change in (he
feeding in the Powell Butte secjlon.
Generally the hay raised hero has
been sent away to market, but this
year hundreds of cattle and sheep are
being fed on the ranches where the
hay was raised. Stock hos been sent
in here for feeding purposes rrom as
far as Klamath and Lake counties
and the Powell Butte country Is fast
becoming a popular feeding ground.
Wurzweilcr and Sons sold to Dan
Clark 203 head of cattle, which were
shipped Into Idaho as feeders lust
week.
A lnreo force of men was called
out last week to clear the ditches' and
laterals of the C. O. I. In order that
the water which hud already been
turned In might get through.
Mrs. Brown is visiting with the
family of her daughter, Mrs. George
Shobert. Mrs. Brown has but re
cently returned from an extended
visit to Vancouver.
Peter Paul's new house is nearlng
completion. The will probably move
in tho last of the week.
Lloyd Burnett and his sister, Miss
Fay Bussett visited in Prineville
Saturday. Miss Bussett will resume
teaching thlB week as she has recov
ered from her recent attack of influ
enza.
Mrs. Stella Shearer returned to
Orewellers mill Sunday,' as little
Ruth has entirely recovered from the
influenza.
