MnrrlnKO License Issued. A mar
riage license has been issued by the
county clerk's office to Robert Smith
and Elma I. Douglas.
Will Entertain Becky Club. Mrs.
Jennie Clark and Mrs. Ethel Fleming
will entertain the Becky club at the
home of Mrs. Frank Gasbar this
evening.
Mr. Mackintosh Returns. A. L.
Mackintosh, county commissioner,
who has been spending the past two
weeks in Portland, returned this
morning.
No Fires in Section. Fire Warden
Borden has reported that, all forest
fires in the district have been ex
tinguished. The one which broke
out at Bachelor butte yesterday
morning was easily under control by
late in the afternoon.
Tumnlo People Married. Walter
N. Ray and Mrs. Ade E. Lundberg,
both of Tumalo, were married in this
city yesterday afternoon by Rev. W.
C. Stewart. Both of the parties are
old residents of that section and well
known throughout the county.
New Chairs for Jurymen. The
county court, acting under the rec
ommendations of the grand Jury, in
session last spring, has purchased
new swivel chairs to be placed in the
circuit court rooms for the use of
jurymen. These will be installed
some time before the next session of
the district court.

Gerking, a prominent rancher of
Tumalo, who was stricken with par
alysis while at work on his farm

At the time of his illness Mr. Gerking
was working in the field alone, but
succeeded in making his way to the
house, where he was placed in bed
and a physician cabled.
Mr. Huffschmidt Leuvcs. R. C.
Huffschmidt, one of the members of
the firm of Huffschmidt & Dugan,
foundryraen, has severed his connec
tion with the firm, and, In company
with his family, left yesterday for
Portland. Mr. Dugan stated this
afternoon that he would conduct the
business In the future, but that the
firm name would remain unchanged,
ut least for the present.
AT THE MOVIES
GRAND.
Lawrence Percival Van Huyler was
a mollycoddle. He thought he had
to be. His training had been along
the lines of least resistance, and
highest polish. He was a Van Huyler
of the Van Huylers. His father had
taught him that any other conduct
was unbecoming in one descended
from Peter Van Huyler, scion of one
of the oldest and proudest Dutch
families on Manhattan Island. Then,
all of a sudden he discovered that
he was not a Van Huyler at all, but
that he was descendant of one Pat
rick John O'Malley, born in Knocka
mure, near Bal.ybunion, County
Kerry, Ireland, who had made his
money through piratical activities on
the Spanish Man r,
"Hurray!" cried the mollycoddle.

"A pirate! An Irishman. Oh, Joy.
I'm Irish!" And without further ado
he cleaned up three workmen, a po
liceman who had answered the riot
call, and landed himself Joyously In
Jail. That is the motif of "Fast-Company,"
the Bluebird photoplay in
which Franklyn Famum makes his
next appearance at the Grand the
atre on Saturday and Sunday matinee.
LIBERTY.
William S. Hart, who is starred in
"The Aryan," the Triangle feature at
the Liberty theatre tonight and Sat
urday, admittedly has a following
among the theatre-goinig public far
greater than that enjoyed by any
other actor who portrays western
character parts. And his following
does not stop there. He possesses
a personal magnetism that makes it
self felt even among the animals at
Hartvllle, the 1,800-acre Triangle
ranch.
This was, perhaps, hest demon
strated during the making of one of
the scenes In "The Aryan." Hart was
out on the desert with a burro and a
horse. He stopped to count his
money, presumably before entering
the mining town. As he stooped
down the burro, which was loaded
with a heavy pack, walked over and
affectionately put its nose over the
actor's shoulder, In the manner of a
caress. The action was unexpected,
but Hart Is so familiar with the ad
vances of the animals that he went
on with the actions outlined in the
'script and the camera caught the
burro In the act of demonstrating its
friendship, thus Incidentally register
ing an unusual human touch for the
production.
