"American Methods," a special super de luxe William Fox photo drama in which William Farnum plays the stellar role, will be shown a: the Grand Theatre Sunday night and Monday. William Farnum, as William Armstrong, is au American of French Descent, and is a successful business man. He is left an estate consisting of an iron mine in France, and with his sister sets sail for the French village and takes charge of the business. In the French town live a Marquise, her daughter and son. Armstrong falls in love with the beautiful daughter of the Mar quise, but she tells him she is be trothed to her cousin. Later the cousin, learning that the girl has lost her fortune, jilts her and marries another. She then accepts Armstrong, but confesses that she does not love him. Soon aftsr his marriage the cousin Jinds that be is still in love with Arm Strong's wife. He inveigles her into a compromising position and is soundly thrashed for bis conduct by the American. Stung by the beating the young Frenchman attempts to shoot Armstrong, and in the struggle he is fatally wounded. "You are becoming careless. Mor dant or losing your nerve," said Pren tice Tiller, known as "The Face," be cause of the hideous muscular contor tions that made his countenanre Irightful. "Someone in your band has been too friendly with the po lice." Mordant had stolen the Gol conda jewels, smuggled them into the United States and the secret service agents were on his trail. As Tiller spoke a great change came over "The Face." H-s hideous demeanor re laxed and in a twinkling Mordant was handcuffed safely to the chair In which he sat. The ttickery of pho tography makes this one of the most sensational scenes ever pictured upon the screen, and it is only one of a dozen sensations in "The Mysterious Mr. Tiller," a Bluebird, to be shown at the Grand Theatre on Saturday night and Sunday matinee, with Ru pert Julian and Ruth Clifford in the star roles. Liberty Theatre. An entertainment that is delight ful, whimsical, witty, clever and pleasing is guaranteed to all persons who see Alice Brady in "The Divorce Game" at the Liberty Theatre Sat urday night. In this production, made from the famous stage success, "Mile. Fifi," by Leo Ditrichstein, Miss Brady has a thoroughly charming role. She' appears as the extravagant American wife of an extravagant French nobleman. The young couple are much In love with each other and are always hard up because of the lavish way In which they spend money and because of the fact that the girl's marriage settlement pre vents her from U3ing anything but the income from the vast sum left by her rather. They appeal to the girl's mother to help them out of their troubles, but as the mother has twice settled their debts she refuses to do so a third time. The mother discovers the subterfuge. And then something oc curs to make the girl really want a divorce. But now she cannot make her mother believe that she Is In earnest.
