SOCIAL SEASON AT
CAPITAL CANCELLED

President and Mrs. Wilson have can
celled the usual winter social season
because of the war. The receptions
and famous Presidential dinners will
be eliminated.
TRAIN IS DELAYED.
Yesterday evening's train was de
layed several hours on account of a
burned bridge near Portland. A
small span just west of Troutdale
burned out and caused two main line
passenger trains to back into the city
and go out by way of Sullivan's'
Gulch.
