It was a good idea that we ad' vanced yesterday; that" of getting the Wool Car for at least one day's exhibition in Bend but someone else had it first, and the suggestion that the Commercial Club might bestir itself in the matter was a little late. Manager Overturf, of the club, had word of the car's coming on Febru ary 10 and at once took up with the proper parties the matter of getting it here. It is gratifying to know that tbe interests of this section are being as carefully looked after as Mr. Over turf's action indicates. A manager who does things should soon get behind him a club "that is equally aetive. GRAZING ADVICE FOR FOREST BEING SOUGHT Experience'' Gained on Ochoro Forest In Taking Care of Stock, Will Be Used on Deschutes To confer with Supervisor Ross of the Ochoco National forest, concern ing grazing natters, V. V. Harpham, assistant supervisor of the Deschutes forest, left this morning for Prlne vllle, and' wilt remain out of the city for the remainder of the week. After leaving Prlneville, he intends to visit the holders of gracing permits in the Grand View and Redmond dis , tricts, and end his tour with a visit at Sisters where he will attend tbe annual -stock meeting to be held there on Saturday. The grazing situation on tbe Ocho co forest became acute several years ago, and with . the range filled to the utmost capacity, constant im provements in method have been nec essitated. With the range on the Deschutes forest fully stocked. Super visor W. G. Hastings has determined to take advantage of the experience gained on the adjoining forest. FOG PROVES BARRIER ON WESTERN FRONT (Br United Preaa to The Dally Bulletin) BERIN, via Say vllle, Feb. 13. It was announced that dense fog lim ited fighting activities on the west front today. Artillery fire was re sumed in the Somme sector. British raiders were repulsed between Ypres and Arras. By George Martin (United Preaa SUIT Correanondcnt.) NEW YORK. Feb. 13. Twenty reserve aero squadrons will be or ganized, trained and equipped for the British Royal Flying corps by the Canadian government this spring. The announcement was made today to the Aero club of America, by the Aero club of Canada, of which Col onel W. Hamilton Merrltt is presi dent. The aviation training schools be ing established in Canada to train the aviators are under the control of the Imperial army authorities. The munitions board has charge of having constructed the 360 training aeroplanes required. The British government is said to Intend spend ing $30,000,000 in developing aoro planes and aviators in the dominion. As in the case of the United States, the number of men anxious to join the air sorvlce is large. The waiting list numbers thousands and the train ing will begin on a large scale early in the spring. Candidates for the air service must be from 19 to 25. The Aero club of Canada at Tor onto will assist in securing and truin tug the aviators. According to reliable reports from England, the British government has spent $250,000,000 for the air serv ice in the last 13 months, in build ing up the Royal Flying corps and the Royal Naval Air service. There are about 12,000 aviators in the two services. Henry Woodhouse, a member of the board of governors of the Aero club of America, today said: "The employment of aeroplanes in the present war is now general. Aero planes are used as cavalry, infantry and artillery, reconnoitering, bomb ing, observing artillery fire, photo graphing the enemy's position, and the like. There are aeroplanes which carry 3 tons of bombs, guns and muni tions. Some of these mount three inch guns, which make them liter ally flying artillery. These aero planes are used to attack trains, ships and bodies of troops. Operations are being extended more and more, and there is no doubt that tbe war is to end in the air. : "Other countries are also greatly expanding their air services, and many countries-are looking towards the United States to supply the aero planes and motors principally the latter. "They want large, high horsepower motors In large quantities. Fortun ately, American aeroplane motors are now as good as the very best Euro pean motors, and there are 17 dif ferent types of motors of upwards ol loO H. P., being developed In the United States today. "A number of these motors are being shown at the first Pan-American Aeronautic exposition at the Grand Central Palace from Febru ary 8 to 15." Road matters took up the greater part of the' time of the Deschutes county court this morning, when an adjourned session was held from last week. Six supervisors were appoint ed, and an agreement entered into for tbe repairing of the Squaw Creek road, the court agreeing to co-operate with the people of Sisters on an even basis, to improve the highway, pro viding that no more than $76 be spent by the county. Supervisors named, with the dist ricts in which they will serve, are as follows: R. J. Skelton, Plalnvlew, No. 12; J. D. Bowman, Sisters,-No. 13; Gus Stadig, Lower Bridge, No. 14; W. A'. Pickett, Terrebonne, No. 15; Anton Ahlstrom, Redmond, No. 16, and W. J. Buckley, Deschutes, No. 19. The afternon was principally spenl In discussing with. Architect Lee A.
