Chicago, March 22. The Washington cor

vorably by the Committee and pass the House.
The correspondent adds that these bonds, to
the amount of fifty millions hare already
been paid. They have in the market b?en
Bold in gross five millions to a wealthy com
bination now bent on carrying a resolution
through Congress in order to secure the
magnificent results that must ensue. This
combination- will pay a fabulous sum for
lobby expenses, and it is proposed to give
the scheme every semblance of legitimacy.

cause of Juarez.
These expenses paid leave a surplus of
twenty five millions. Three millions will

General of the Army of the Potomac, has
become insane, and has been Bent to the
' Asylum, at Augusta, Me.
The Charleston Courier snys it is hardly
possible to imagine the extent to which the
smallpox prevails throughout the entire
South. In some places, the blacks furnish
the most victims, while in other places, the
white population suffer most. No care to
prevent its spreading is paid in medical
treatment. Those who have tbe disense,
walk through the streets in a most indiffer
ent and unconcerned manner in several large
townsv

Anthony, from the printing committee re
ported a resolution to print 5,000 copies of
the special report of tbe Revenue Commis
ion.
Mr. Hendricks asked if a minority report
bad been presented.-
Mr. Sherman said it had not. Mr. Days,
.of Chicago, member of the Commitlon, bad
made a report in favor of taxing U. S. secur.
itics and cancelling tho natioual debt, and
this had not been printed. It was a very
poor report, bat it might be well enough to
priut.
On motion of Mr. Hendricks the resolution
was amended so as to include Mr. Hays' re
port, and passed. "
Mr. Harris called np a bill abolishing the
Southern Judicial District of California and
the we-tern district of each State.
The bill passed.
Mr. Brown culled up the bill to authorize
the construction of a bridge over tbe Missis-
uppi river at bt. Lorn?, which passed.
