a part of it, but the latter declines
purtaking; thus intimating that she
will never live on the substunco of her
tinw relative.
Mr. Sardon, the French play wrightj
having recently had an interview with
the Empress Eugenio at Compeigne,
Was complimented by her ilajcsty
upon his efforts to ridicule tho prevail
ing extravagance in ladies' toilets.
The Empress said that she had tried
