Miller A Co., and offer to the pnbllo a full and complete stock of lemieais. consisting In pnrt or LAMP WICKS 0UIMNEY9, Atlantlo Keiri, New Tork. Nov. 10 The order for thevex eciitioD of Wins is exciting more remarks and ocrnpying the public uiind to a much greater degree then did the hang-infi of the eonspirntors. This is probably due to the fact of the notice (riven in this Instance, while in the case of the former eiecution, scarcely more than ten hours of daylight intervened between the public announcement and the appearance ot the condemned on the scaffold. Wirlz la said to be in better condition to day than ft' any time during bis confinement. He bag had considerable sleep, and has a moder ate appe'ile. He appears to show much stamina as tbe hours of bis life approach tbeir close. His spiritual adviser. Father Beerile, was with him during much of tbe afternoon, and left his cell about six this af ternoon. Scbrade also vilted him, after an hour's interview of the fo.oier with President Johnson this morning. The interview Known to nave neen productive or nothing to indicate that Wirtz would be reprieved, though on the streets and in the hotels, the popular opinion seems to be gradually settling In that conviction. President John son is known to have met the petition of be tirade for a commutation of sentence with kind attention and regard, but said nothing to induce a belief that Executive clemency would be extended in the Wiriz case, nor did ochrune entertain a shadow of hone. New York, November 11. The Allowing is the sentence of Gen. Briscoe: "The Court does therelore sentence him, Brevet Brie. Gen. Briscoe, Col. of tbe 199tb Pennsylvania, to be cashiered, dishonorably discharged from the United States service, and forever diqna ified trom Homing any otnee or honor or profit un ' der the United States Government; that be . forfeit all pay and allowance now due, or wbicb may become due to bim, and be con fined at hard labor, In such place as the Sec retary or war may direct, tor five years. "The findings and sentence are approved and confirmed. By tbe bigb testimonials of tbe former good character and gallantry of uen. unscne by Uenera:s Meade, Hancock, btonemnn, Uibbon, Terry, Soilless and others, so much of tbe sentence as pertains to coo fioement is remitted " By order of the President. (Signed) K. D. Townsbnd, A. A. G." About noon Briscoe was released. He was highly elated at his escape from imprison ment, as he fully expected to be sent to the penitentiary. New York, Nov. 10 The Times' special says all reports about Cabinet discussion over tbe correspondence between Earl Russell and Minister Adams, are absurd, that the corres pondence was in the bands of the Govern ment several weeks before it was published, and that Secretary Seward had written a reply to Russell's last dispatch at least six weeks since. It is generally understood be Informed the English Government that we shall not press tbe suggestion of arbitration, nor shall we consent to submit any question to the direction of a commission, unless old claims at issue between .the two Governments shall be submitted. Al-o, it is probable that prior to sending Secretary Seward's dispatch a request was made to know what topics were Intended to come before the commission sug gested by Russell, as a necessary preliminary to the acceptance or declination of it. WaihingtSh, Nov. 9. A dispatch to the Secretary ol tbe Treasury, dated Grtlveston, Nov; 4th, announces the death of Wm John, sop, only brother of tbe President, from tbe affects of a gunshot wound. Washington, Nov. 10 dpt. Wirls was hung between 10 and 11 o'c'ock ibis morning. On tbe gallows he declared his innocence, and died without exhibiting any symptoms of fear. Last Spring large quantities of foods were taken to Kootenai, and with the depletion of tbe population in those mines, ft was found necessary to remove tbem to Blackfoot to find a market. Being in law British goods, from having paid British duties, tbey are liable to confiscation upon coming back lito the United Stales without paying duties under our revenue laws. An agent of tbe Port Angeles custom-house was sent np to Blackfoot to watch this very matter, and bow has in keeping several pack-trains loaded with goods from Kootenai, at the Jocko Res ervation. ' Among those under duress is "French Levy," who is well known in tbis country. It is a hard case all around, tbat men should buy goods- pay British duties and freight to Kootenai then pay freight to Blackfoot, and then bare tbeir goods taken from them.
