sued directing the commanding officer at the
, Presidio to keep Capt..Hill, now on trial for
murder, in close confinement under guard,
and holding the commanding officer afore

has been appointed courmmder of Fort
.Point, to relieve Col. A. L. Anderson. Gen.
French is also appointed Inspector of Ar
tillery for forts and batteries in the harbtfr

Charles Jun on, one of the parties injured
by the explosion of the Yoiemite, has com
menced suit in the 15th District Court
against the Caifomia Steam Navigation
Company to recover $21,U25 damages for
injuries received and for moneys expended
for eqrgical and medical treatment on ac
count, of the explosion of the yoiemite.
Plaintiff was thrown into- the air and fell
through the deck on to the boiler, whereby
Ilia right leg was broken, and he was se
verely scalded. He has expended $1,025 in
consequence, and demands $20,000 addi
tional damnges.
. Samuel Bivens and Mary, his wife, recov
ered a verdict in the 12th District Court yes
terday against the Omnibus Railroad Com
pany for $400 for tbe forcible expulsion of
Mary Bivens from defendants' car on Stock
ton street in January last. . The plaintiffs
were co ored people. The testimony shows
,.i!iat the conductor offered hoe the privilege
. of standing on the platform,- but cot being
, atified with these accommodation?, and in
listing- on riding inside, she was ejected
from toe car.
