shouldn't use cold cream on your
face at all. as it is olly.-E. Scrub
at twice daily with soap and hot
water, followed by cold, and then
apply a glycerine solution. You
can put a few drops of the pure
glycerine in your palm and apply
it to your faec while it Is still wet.
Glycerine must be very diluted to
be effective.
The diet should bo low in
starches and sugars and fatty
foods.
You are fortunate not' to have
acne. We have an article on the
subject If you want it.

on diet and health. I have reduced
43 pounds in three months. I still
have about 20 pounds to lose and
I hope to keep up the good work.
I feel fine and look very much
better.

pounds a week and I did not feel
so well then, for I would get cold
and weak and I looked bad. But
now I am losing about one and
one-half pounds a week and feel
stronger and better. I walk about
two miles three times a week and
find It Important along with the
exercises you advise. I eat almost

helpings. At noon, I take some
l raw vegetables nr fruit. We have
an early Bupper, at 4 p. m., and I
don't eat anything after that, and
I don't feel hungry, either.

When one reduces as high as
four pounds a week, there must be
too great limitation of the essen
tials of the diet, and naturally one
becomes under par. However, It
is a good plan in the beginning
bat . not necessary to go on a
liquid or semi-liquid diet, not over
500 to - 800 calories .a day, for
three or four days, in order -to
shrink the stomach and clean up
the Intestinal tract. During thl?
period, from five to ten. pound
may be lost, but after this, one
and one half to two pounds a week
is enough (unless being super
vised by a physician).
Another reason for not' reduc
ing too rapidly is that the reducer
must continue his new modes of
eaUng all his life; that Is, he ha
to re-educate his tastes; other
wise, 7 aftejr reducing the weight
will gradually accumulate again.
A brisk walk of two miles a day
Is a great help.
It too often happens that those
who are overweight feel that they
must get rid of their excess right
away, and because they cannot do
that, they get discouraged. If they
would realize that even though
but one-half pound a week Is lost
on the average, it means a loss of
28 pounds a yearf which is con
siderable. And further realize
that if one doesn't try 'to lose
something the, probability is that
at the end of the year there will
be a slight gain instead of a loss.
