HERMISTON — The 34th annual Farm-
City Pro Rodeo happens Aug. 10-13 at
the arena, 1705 E. Airport Road. Rodeo
action starts at 7:45 p.m. each day.
The rodeo grounds has seating for near-
ly 8,500 spectators, and entry includes
admission to the Umatilla County Fair.
Tickets are $17 for general seating,
$20 reserved. A child’s ticket is $5 on
Wednesday, and tickets for military are
$10 on Thursday.

tilla County Fair kicked off Wednesday,

BAKER CITY — On the Third Thursday
of each month, Baker City Downtown
organizes a wine walk with participating
businesses that stay open late to wel-
come shoppers.
The walk starts at 5 p.m. on Thursday,
Aug. 18, at Launch Pad Baker, 2019 Main
St. A donation of $10 gets a commemo-
rative glass and map of participating loca-
tions. A portion of this month’s proceeds
will go to the Baker County Library Dis-
trict to help start a Banned Books Club,
in which members would read books that
have been banned or challenged and
then critically discuss each work.
During the walk, Jeana Phillips, owner
of Betty’s Books, is organizing “Banned
Books & Buns” at Sweet Wife Baking,
2028 Main St. She will be there with a
selection of books that have been chal-
lenged in the past, accompanied with the
reason for the challenge, the location and
the date.
Library Director Perry Stokes will also
be on hand to talk about the First Amend-
ment and the role of libraries for providing
access to information.

HERMISTON — Things are sizzling as
the Hermiston Rotary Club prepares for
its annual cowboy breakfasts at a new
venue. A 50-plus year tradition during
Umatilla County Fair week, the hearty
meals will be served Friday, Aug. 12 and
Saturday, Aug. 13, 6:30-10:30 a.m. at the
Hermiston Community Center, 415 S.
Highway 395.
The menu includes pancakes, sausage,
eggs, hash browns and fresh fruit. There
is no charge, however, donations are
gladly accepted. Money will help support
the Umatilla County Fair Youth Livestock
Sale.

mium seats are available online for $12
and $20, respectively.
LA GRANDE — This month’s Writing
Project, organized by Art Center East, is
inviting poets and poetry lovers to a Calli-
ope Night/Poetry Party at 7 p.m. Wednes-
day, Aug. 17, at HQ, 112 Depot St.
The evening includes games that
will inspire poems, followed by an open
microphone session where attendees can
share their creations.

EOCenes will again play at Pendleton
Center for the Arts during Round-Up
