8:12 a.m. — A caller on Coyote Lane, Heppner, reported some-
one was breaking into their 1976 pull-behind camper.
8:36 a.m. — Hermiston police responded to the 400 block of
Northeast 10th Street on a burglary call. Police took a report.
10:27 a.m. — A caller on Rio Senda Drive and Chenowith Ave-
nue, Umatilla, reported someone the previous night set off illegal
fi reworks two streets over from their home and the debris fell on
their roof.
3:59 p.m. — A 911 caller reported a fi ght on West Hermiston
Avenue involving a male with black, braided hair and wearing a
black shirt and denim pants.
4:05 p.m. — A resident at Oregon Trail RV Park, 1200 N.E. Wash-
ington Ave., Irrigon, reported the black and white dog that starts
fi ghts with her dog returned, and she keeps her dog on a leash. She
asked for the Morrow County Sheriff ’s Offi ce to contact her about
this. The sheriff ’s offi ce advised her the owners of the dog could
receive citations if the dog is running loose.
TUESDAY, JULY 19
10:11 a.m. — Milton-Freewater police received a report of a
break-in of a cargo trailer overnight and the theft of a generator
and various tools on the 100 block of Sykes Boulevard.
11:47 a.m. — Pendleton police initiated activity along the
Southeast Umatilla River levee behind Electric Sundown, 14 S.E.
Third St., Pendleton, for “a large amount of garbage.”
12:18 p.m. — A person at the Hermiston Police Department,
330 S. First St., asked to speak to an offi cer about fraudulent checks
that were cashed on his account.
12:28 p.m. — Pendleton police received a complaint about a
solicitor violation at Southwest 20th Street and Dorion Avenue.
1:29 p.m. — Morrow County Sheriff ’s Offi ce received a report of
an individual burning something late at night on Northeast Elder
Street, Heppner. The caller said this was suspicious.
4 p.m. — A resident on South Birch Street, Ione, reported some-
one had been unlocking her front gate and asked the Morrow
County Sheriff ’s Offi ce for extra patrols.
10:31 p.m. — A 911 caller on West Elm Avenue, Hermiston,
reported girls were fi ghting.

July 18
• Pendleton police arrested Joseph Daniel Simpson, 18, for one
count of second-degree criminal trespass, one count of third-de-
gree criminal mischief and four counts of second-degree criminal
mischief plus a felony parole violation.
• Pendleton police arrested Robert Edwin Cool, 35, for fourth-de-
gree assault, second-degree criminal mischief and violating a
release agreement.
July 19
Pendleton police arrested Wendi Louise Fisher, 49, for four
counts of misuse of 911 and for resisting arrest.

Lt. Col. (Retired) Troy Richard Young
March 11, 1937 - June 26, 2022
Troy Richard Young was born
March 11, 1937, to Morris and
Vivian (Dugger) Young in Amory,
Mississippi. He attended school
and graduated from Amory High
School. He attended University of
Southern Mississippi graduating
with a BS degree and later pursued
a career in the U.S. Army, attaining
the rank of lieutenant colonel.
In 1958, he married Sue
(Spencer) Young and they became
the parents of two daughters and
a son. He was a devoted husband
and father and maintained his
residence in El Paso, Texas. After
retiring from the Army, he began
an additional career with U.S. Civil
Service from which he also retired.
Troy was a man of service, both
to his country and communities
in which he resided. He was active in his church as a
Bible study teacher and later became very active in the
Royal Rangers church sponsored youth program and
attained several leadership roles. His interest in archery
led him to teach the sport and later to establish El Paso
Archery dealing with archery equipment and becoming
a certified archery instructor. For many years, he
created beautiful pieces of furniture through his interest
in woodworking.
After the passing of his beloved wife, Sue, he became
an avid motorcyclist and purchased a CanAm Spyder
and took trips to New Mexico Franklin Mountains and
other nearby destinations. He enjoyed the outdoors and
later moved to the Blue Mountains of Eastern Oregon,
purchasing a cabin at a small lake and began a project to
update and modernize it to become a cozy, comfortable
home.
He later married Margo Herd, a resident of Meacham,
Oregon, and a teacher of the challenges of mountain
living to which he became well adapted. He told his
friends there were three seasons in Meacham, snow,
mud, and dust and occasionally repeated themselves
during the year. His most recent best friends were
Bruno, Luna and Princess.
He is survived by his wife, Margo; two daughters,
Vivian Blankenship and Melissa Flenniken; a son,
Troy Christopher (Dina); grandchildren, Bethany,
Ryan, Alison, Ashley, Troy Douglas and Lily; brothers,
Charles, Danny and Jimmy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Sue; granddaughter, Leslie Noel
Blankenship; son-in-law, Rick Blankenship; and pups,
Bear and Dolly.
A graveside service with military honors is planned
at 10:30 a.m., July 19, 2022, at Ft Bliss National
Cemetery in El Paso, Texas.
Roderick K. ‘Rod’ Murray
July 5, 1926 - July 16, 2022
Roderick K. “Rod” Murray, 96,
of Ione died, Saturday, July 16,
2022, at his home surrounded by
family. A graveside service with
military honors will be held on
Friday, July 22, 2022, at 12 noon
at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery.
He was born July 5, 1926, at
Hillsboro, Oregon, the son of
Dallas and Laura “Dolly” McInnis
Murray. Rod was raised on Chehalem Mountain
between Newberg and Hillsboro, Oregon, and attended
Newberg High School. After high school, he served his
country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He then returned to attend Oregon State University and
graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
On July 28, 1945, Rod married “Meg”, Margaret
Lou Gwin, in Biloxi, Mississippi. The couple raised
five children and for many years owned and operated
Murray Drugs in Heppner and Condon.
Rod had many activities outside of pharmacy and
took great pleasure in being outdoors either raising
racing quarter horses or black angus cattle. He especially
loved being with family.
Survivors include children, Mark Murray and Sandy,
Matt Murray and Mary, John Murray and Ann, Anne
Murray and Dawn; plus 12 grandchildren and dozens of
great-grandchildren.
Rod was preceded in death by wife, Meg; daughter
and son-in-law, Maralee and Dean Trotter; siblings,
Laura “Twoie” Haynes, Virginia “Ginia” Coleman,
Mildred ”Millie” Walters and Sherman Murray.

Trisha Marie Farley Huddleston
August 18, 1948 - July 13, 2022
Trisha Marie Farley Huddleston passed away after an
eight-year battle with cancer. She courageously fought
the disease to the very end. She was born on Aug. 18,
1948, to Jim and Louise Farley. She attended school in
Heppner graduating in 1966, then attended college at
Eastern Oregon University in La Grande and Oregon
State University in Corvallis.
After college, Trisha married and lived in Hermiston
for several years. There, she welcomed three daughters.
After her daughter, Alissa, passed away, Trisha and her
daughters, Anjie and Aimee, moved to Canby. Trisha
raised her girls while working at a travel agency. She
loved arranging trips for her clients and making sure
their vacations were planned to perfection.
In 1988, Trish met the love of her life, Mike
Huddleston at the Heppner St Patrick’s Day celebration.
As the story goes, they were introduced by cousin Paul
Hisler. They recently celebrated 33 happy years of
marriage.
Trish spent many years in Canby before moving to
Woodburn. She enjoyed her work as a travel agent so
much that she continued working part time from home,
even while fighting cancer.
She had an amazing sense of humor. She had an
uncanny knack for finding the perfect greeting card.
Trish was so proud of her family, and loved seeing what
her daughters and grandchildren have accomplished.
Survivors include her husband, Mike; daughters,
Anjie (Darren) Vannoy, and Aimee (Jeremy) Kennel;
sister, Shanny (Mark) Miller; grandchildren, Kylie
Watton, Ely Kennel, and Karlie Vannoy; nephew, Corey
(Jill) Miller; and niece, Marcy (Jimmy) Walton. She
is preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter,
Alissa Halverson.
Trish wished to be buried next to her daughter,
Alissa, in Heppner, Oregon. The graveside service was
Monday, July 18, 2022.
