12:41 a.m. — A 911 caller on Cobb
Road, Milton-Freewater, reported an
assault. Umatilla County sheriff ’s deputies
responded.
10:19 a.m. — A 911 caller at Crabby’s
Underground Saloon & Dance Hall, 220
S.W. First St., Pendleton, reported the theft
of a vehicle. Police took a report.
10:20 a.m. — A 911 caller on Joy Lane,
Hermiston, reported a burglary. Umatilla
County sheriff ’s deputies responded.
2:17 p.m. — A caller reported a fi re on
shore at the marina in Boardman, 1 Marine
Drive N.E., Boardman, by the second pier
near vehicles. Boardman Fire Department
responded.
2:53 p.m. — A caller reported his 1964
Ford Falcon was involved in a hit-and-run
at Heppner Family Foods, 238 N. Main St.,
Heppner.
4:14 p.m. — A 911 caller on South High-
way 395, Stanfi eld, reported her ex-hus-
band tried to run her and her children off
the road. She stated he is driving a gold,
four-wheel drive Chevy Silverado and was
headed toward Stanfi eld.
4:19 p.m. — Umatilla police responded
to Quality Inn, 705 Willamette St., Umatilla,
on a report of a domestic disturbance.
6:17 p.m. — A 911 caller on Rio Senda
Drive, Umatilla, reported there is a female
in his house that should not be there. Police
responded.
8:29 p.m. — A 911 caller on Southwest
Birch Place, Pilot Rock, reported there are
two people trying to take something from
her boyfriend and causing a disturbance.
Police responded.
8:41 p.m. — Umatilla County Sheriff ’s
TUESDAY, JULY 5
12:49 a.m. — Hermiston police
responded to East Highland Avenue on a
report of a domestic disturbance.
6:53 a.m. — A caller reported some-
one used fi reworks to damage a mailbox
belonging to Community Bank, 504 N.
Main St., Milton-Freewater.
7:38 a.m. — A city of Milton-Freewater
employee reported new graffi ti on a build-
ing on the 300 block of North Main Street.
10:52 a.m. — Hermiston police received
a report of child abuse/neglect.
11:14 a.m. — A woman came into the
Hermiston Police Department, 330 S. First
St., to speak with an offi cer regarding her
ex-boyfriend, who has been making threats
of self harm for the last several months. She
wanted to know if she can keep their son
from visiting him.
1:37 p.m. — Umatilla County sheriff ’s
deputies responded to Walla Walla River
Road, Milton-Freewater, on a report of
harassment.
2:12 p.m. — A 911 caller on Second
Street, Umatilla, reported there have been
two dogs on their property lately who are
somewhat aggressive. Police responded.
2:54 p.m. — Umatilla County sheriff ’s
deputies responded to East Punkin Center
and Canal roads, Hermiston, on a report of
a domestic disturbance.
3 p.m. — A caller on Rio Senda Drive,
Umatilla, reported their medication had
been stolen out of a vehicle in their garage.
Umatilla Police Department took a report.
5:04 p.m. — Umatilla police responded
to Pik A Pop, 1010 Sixth St., on a report of a
domestic disturbance.
8:23 p.m. — A caller on East Main Street,
Ione, reported a group of farmworkers
threatened him and he has it on video.
Morrow County Sheriff ’s Offi ce made con-
tact and retrieved the video footage.
10:37 p.m. — Boardman fi re responded
to Frontage Lane on a report of a grass fi re
and extinguished the blaze.

Mary 'Susie' Edes
July 9, 1954 - May 22, 2022
Mary “Susie” Edes of Umatilla,
Oregon, was born on July 9, 1954,
in Whittier, California. She died
on May 22, 2022, in Hermiston,
Oregon, at the age of 67 years.
She graduated from Eagle Point
High School in Medford, Oregon.
She worked various jobs but her
favorite was being a mother to
her two children, Anne and Kelly.
Being a wife of a military husband she moved around a
lot — Arizona, California, Connecticut and Washington
— before finally settling Oregon. She later married
Robert Edes in Umatilla, Oregon. Susie retired from the
Walmart Distribution Center.
She is survived by her husband, Robert, two children,
Anne and Kelly, along with five grandchildren; mother,
Erline Owen, and brother, Bobby Wayne.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 9,
2022, at 10 a.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston,
Oregon. A celebration of life potluck gathering will
follow at McNary Beach Sockeye Shelter, Umatilla,
Oregon. Please bring your favorite dish, a lawn chair
and lots of stories of Susie to share.

Taylor Carolyn Lankford, 29,
of Echo, Oregon, passed away on
June 25, 2022. Taylor was born
on Jan. 9, 1993, to Randy and
Dana Moon in Portland, Oregon.
Taylor graduated from Waitsburg
High School and attended Eastern
Washington
University
upon
graduation.
Taylor married the love of her
life, Josh Lankford, in 2021 at their home in Echo. Her
dogs, Woodie and Skat, were her kids and her overall
love for animals was apparent in any conversation.
She enjoyed being in the mountains, hunting and being
creative including making custom candles and projects
with wine corks. Taylor was the life of any room;
always ready with silly faces and an infectious laugh.
Her family and friends will miss her, her fun personality,
and her big caring heart dearly.
Professionally, Taylor worked in the wine industry
of the Walla Walla Valley before relocating to Echo.
Recently, Taylor was a mortgage loan officer in
Hermiston where she enjoyed helping clients purchase
their dream homes. She volunteered her time for many
organizations including the Hermiston Breath of Life
event supporting the Oregon Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
and the Spinden Housing Project.
Taylor is survived by her husband, Josh, of Echo,
parents, Randy and Dana Moon, of Waitsburg,
Washington, and brother, Nathan Moon, of Tempe,
Arizona.
Taylor’s celebration of life will be held at Echo Ridge
Winery on Saturday, July 9, at 3 p.m. Taylor wished for
a 90s themed birthday party for her 30th birthday, so the
theme of the event is 90s with dressing up encouraged.
Carolyn Jo Hojaboom, of
Umatilla, Oregon, was born
on March 3, 1939, in Seattle,
Washington, to parents William
Frank Stentz and Caroline Elizabeth
Tinkham Stentz. She died on June
29, 2022, in Hermiston, Oregon, at
the age of 83 years. Carolyn was
raised in Woodinville, Washington,
and graduated from Bothell High
School in the Class of 1957. She
married Robert Hojaboom Sr. in 1959. They lived in the
Binghamton, New York, area where she worked as a
clerk in customer service. In 1991, they moved from
Endicott, New York, to Umatilla, Oregon, where she
has lived since. Carolyn volunteered as a cook at the
Umatilla Senior Center and as a grandmother in the
reading program at McNary Grade School for several
years. She was a longtime member of the Umatilla
Presbyterian Community Church, Umatilla, Oregon.
Carolyn enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing Yahtzee,
Hallmark movies, crocheting, crafts, flowers, baking
and her cat. Grandma was known for her no-bake
cookies.
She is survived by her son, Robert Hojaboom Jr.,
and his wife, Sandy, Umatilla; daughters, Carol Roberts
and her husband, Wayne, Umatilla, and Susan Mills,
Binghamton, New York; sister, Betty Johnson, Irrigon,
Oregon; grandchildren, Robert III, Paul, Christopher,
Heather, William, Elleanor and Andrew; great-
grandchildren, Robert IV, Jude, Vincent, Jayvion and
Jayceon; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband,
Robert Hojaboom Sr., in 2020, and her parents.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday,
July 10, 2022, at 1 p.m. at the Umatilla Presbyterian
Community Church, Umatilla, Oregon.

the Umatilla Presbyterian Community Church.
