HOROSCOPES BY HOLIDAY MATHIS
FRIDAY, JULY 8, 2022 A Lesson from Jupiter
Taller people have farther to fall, richer people
have more to lose and the powerful few are always
vulnerable to being conquered by their numerous
underlings. Maybe you’re not exactly where you want
to be, but there’s a unique advantage of your current
position. This is the lesson of Mercury’s square to
Jupiter, the planet of abundance.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). You may do what’s
expected of you, but you’re just as likely to do the
opposite of that because today you’re a rebel. You take
pleasure in the surprise of others. You delight in their
raised eyebrows and luxuriate in their laughter.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). A task feels like a
slog, and you’ll be tempted to quit at what seems like
the halfway point. But you can’t know what the halfway
point is until you get to the end and measure back.
Don’t quit. You’re closer to success than you think.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Success can be scary.
If you do well, you’ll be in unknown territory. Grapple
with that realization by remembering how often you’ve
faced the unknown and not only managed it, but
eventually learned to own it.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). It feels good to solve
people’s problems and to experience their relief. You’ll
underpromise and overdeliver, a surefire success
formula. Though you don’t expect your generosity to
be repaid, it will be.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). You’ll take measures to
counteract artificiality. You’ll resist those who would
have you purchase what you don’t need. Revisit the
rituals that remind you of your values and connect you
to who you are and where you come from.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Knowing a lot never
made anyone wise. You’re very experienced in a
certain realm so it’s harder for you to look at things
with a beginner’s mind, and yet you do this to fantastic
effect today, elevating your work to a new level.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). While it’s natural to
want to avoid negative feelings, you’re also not afraid
to process them. You recognize that your feelings are a
reaction to a thought. You’ll change your thought, and
a feeling will change too.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). It will be far better to
go forward in blind optimism than to be critical of the
early stages of a project, thereby making it impossible
to gain momentum. For now, enthusiasm is more
important than getting things absolutely right.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). Momentum
wins, so don’t let fine details hang you up. Neither
should you worry about who is going to approve or
how your work is measuring up. You don’t have to get
it all perfect, just good enough to move forward.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You’ll spend
a lucky hour focusing exclusively on what needs to
happen to reach your goal. A good plan saves time.
More awareness allows you to do things with less
effort. Caution: so-called free things can be costly.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You want to shine
in a certain someone’s eyes, though your success
does not hinge on the opinion of one person. Even
when you get the approval you want, keep building
your core of fans; group support will be best.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Being around people
can give you energy or drain you of it, depending on
your mood. Today’s small doses of mostly delightful
social interaction represent the ideal scenario, as just
a little fellowship can go a long way.
TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (July 8). Your approach to
goals will change. You’re used to plotting out your
own challenges and meeting them heroically, but
this year other people will make plans that include
you and you’ll shine in a different and new way. More
highlights: A spontaneous risk, a bag of money and
the expansion of your family tree. Capricorn and
Sagittarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 10, 7,
15, 5 and 11.

If you’re on-trend, you swim with the tide. It’s an
easygoing vibe compared to the responsibility of
trendsetting, which is swimming faster than the tide.
That makes you the part of the wave that first comes
crashing to the shore. Capitalizing on trend equals
waiting on the shore with a lemonade stand, ready to
sell a drink to anything the tide brings in.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). A foreign place will
capture your curiosity. Whether you travel there in
person or go there in your mind through study, media
or fantasy, the experience will be a thrill. When it’s
time to leave, you’ll take something of it with you.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You’ll disagree
with someone and still basically get along. You
communicate well, which sometimes means not
saying a word, and always means chiming in with
topics likely to uplift.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Though you’ve met
people with similar senses of humor, it’s the ones you
knew when that sense was developing who have not a
similar sense but the same sense of humor. Reconnect
with them.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). Remember when you
were in survival mode? You’re thankful not to be there
and yet the lessons are still relevant. Survival mode
has its advantages. Attention is paid to what matters.
Nonsense assumes its proper size.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Things have gotten
convoluted. You may not even be sure how you got
here, but the next step is simpler than it seems.
There’s something you need to stop and something
you need to start. You sense what it is. It’s time.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Here comes a call
to action. Don’t wonder if you have what it takes,
just answer the call in the affirmative, or better yet,
get immediately into action without saying a word.
Pretending to be brave leads to real bravery.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). The research you do
before you leap will save you from a dish you don’t
prefer. Peruse the menu of life before you order with
a special eye to the price. Events, jobs and people
can be much more “expensive” than one might guess.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You don’t seek
out difficult people and neither do you avoid them,
because you want what they teach, even if the lesson
is just how to be patient or how not to live. Difficult
people hone your humanity.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). The journey
won’t always add up, make sense or proceed in
a straight line. If it did, you’d become bored and
disheartened. You thrive with novelty and surprise.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). It follows that
anything assisting you to discover and explore the
unexpressed self is a real blessing. Enlarge your circle
of influence through education and conversation.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). It may feel like you
are singing a beautiful song to people with no ear for
music. Keep singing anyway. To expose people to
something new is a gift. People need to hear a thing
many times to understand it.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). To admit your fear
and uncertainty takes a special sort of superpower, the
one that is almost never lauded amongst the Titans,
and that is the superpower of vulnerability. Only the
strong can perform such a courageous feat.
TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (July 9). This year is a fun
surprise box, and you’ll adapt to any circumstance.
You’ll look for opportunity no matter what. Through
repetition and training you become a talent to be
reckoned with. More highlights: a mystery solved with
a treasured friend; a message to the world sent in an
unusual way; a memoir that makes an impact. Gemini
and Taurus adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 20,
21, 8, 17 and 12.
