HOROSCOPES BY HOLIDAY MATHIS
SUNDAY, JUNE 19, 2022 A Freedom Hymn for Father’s Day
Today we celebrate at once Father’s Day, which is
the third Sunday of June, and Juneteenth, which is
June 19. The moon in the sea of Pisces recalls the
hymn by brothers James Weldon Johnson and J.
Rosemond Johnson: “Let our rejoicing rise/ High as
the listening skies/ Let it resound loud as the rolling
sea.”
ARIES (March 21-April 19). Change brings
growth, and growth brings change. Even though you
can’t control life’s process entirely, you’re steering
on course and on pace.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). You’ll make future-
you more comfortable by planning what you’re going
to do when the pressure is on. Being ready for the
squeeze will make it far less stressful to you.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). You may be able
to accelerate the natural pace a few notches to get
quick results, but rushing will give you no lasting
advantage. A good idea taken to the extreme is a bad
idea.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). All of us are fragile,
but we don’t all look it. You might be surprised at the
tender heart within a tough exterior. Your gentleness
will be appreciated, though perhaps subtly or in
secret.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). What’s seen cannot be
unseen. What’s known cannot be unknown. So, you
love this current state of mind, even as you stand
on the brink of a revelation, preparing for a leap in
awareness.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). There are more ways
than one to be nice. In certain cases, it’s kinder to
provide a challenge or make someone work for an
outcome than it is to make things easy and give
everything up front.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You should not have
to change any aspect of yourself to be liked by
anyone else. Neither should you make yourself earn
your own respect and admiration. Give it freely. Let
yourself have a new start, if necessary.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). When you find
yourself trying to impress someone, let that be a red
flag indicating that this person doesn’t readily get
you -- a lack of observation or knowledge on their
part, not yours.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). If the record
needle of time could be set back to the beginning of
the album, it would play all the same songs. You may
put a new disc on the turntable today, but as for the
song of your past... no regrets.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You believe the
issues of society are also your issues. When you see
an opportunity to improve things, seize it. Everything
you do to increase your own well-being helps, too.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). You’ll seek the
company of bright minds with diverse strengths. You
want to be around people who inspire you to be and
do better, even if it’s challenging. The right kind of
discomfort is invaluable.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). The people around
you feel secure and assured in your presence, so
they will follow you. While leadership is hard work,
it’s also a great opportunity to create magic with and
for the group.
TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (June 19). You’re motivated
by a desire to help, lift and protect. You’ll achieve a
goal quite conspicuously and get a taste of popularity,
if not fame. Also featured: glamour in the early fall,
an inked commitment and sunny upgrades to your
habits and routines. Aquarius and Sagittarius adore
you. Your lucky numbers are: 10, 14, 8, 19 and 7.

MONDAY, JUNE 20, 2022 Closing Statements of the Gemini Sun
The final full day of the sun’s journey through Gemini
has a feeling of finality like the fond farewell at the
end of a party, the closing statement of a court case
or the last ask of the sales pitch. Endings are an
opportunity to make a memory, but no pressure.
Unlike first impressions, which only happen once,
endings can be easy to amend.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). There are things
that happened years ago that you still cringe to think
of, and this is a lucky day for letting go. You’re not
defined by the past. You’re entitled to making as
many iterations of yourself as you please.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). Animals are never
on their phones -- one of the many things you
appreciate about them. Your connection to creatures
will bring joy, grounding and the sense of living
totally in the moment.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Often the best way
to say things is not the first one that pops to mind.
A friendly, diplomatic approach takes practice, and
you’ll get plenty in the weeks to come. Today’s power
question: What if we did it this way instead?
CANCER (June 22-July 22). Your solo strength is
remarkable, but sociability has definite advantages.
For instance, exercising with friends gives you an
endorphin boost, and the accountability factor makes
it easier to establish the habit.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). People who are tired have
cranky opinions and complaints and are not fun to
be around. You don’t want to be that person, so you
believe what your body tells you and make rest and
relaxation a priority.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). An exclusive group
intrigues you. Are you familiar enough with its culture
to join? Find out more. As you gain a measure of
expertise, doors swing open. As usual, you’ll remain
modest and focused on others all the way.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). Some degree of worry
is to be expected and will serve you well, helping you
anticipate and avoid future problems. You’ll take stress
in stride, handle it with grace and attract good fortune.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). You’ll welcome
contradictions. Without contrast we couldn’t see or
understand anything at all. Comprehension of light
relies on the outlines of darkness. Detail is shading.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). While the
success of others may not pose a threat to your own,
you wouldn’t be human if you didn’t occasionally
find it annoying. You’ll wisely avoid the futility of
competing when it’s not a competition.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). You’ll turn down
your inner heat to keep the emotional weather around
you mild. It works. You’ll stop the wind. It’s easy to
go faster than the wind when there is no wind.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Every behavior
has a payoff. To change a behavior, understand
its payoff. Figuring out your own motives will
require objectivity, honesty and compassionate
nonjudgment.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). Thinking back
on your journey, those times of uncertainty and
awkwardness were an essential part of the deal. It
takes feeling lost to appreciate the relief of being
found, even (and especially) in regard to finding
yourself.
TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (June 20). You’ll ask better
questions to turn your work in a lucrative direction.
You’ll bring different resources together to create
something efficient and unique. Also in the stars:
personal work earns tender rewards. You’ll get in on
the ground level of a venture. Big planning goes into
a formal event -- one for the ages. Taurus and Libra
adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 3, 22, 15, 9 and
40.
