A 2011 Hermiston High School graduate, she was a member of the HHS cross country and track teams. Worstell died Nov. 3, 2020, at the age of 27. To help raise money for the fund, a bene- fit run/walk is scheduled for May 14, 9 a.m. The registration fee is $25 with 100% of the money raised going to the scholarship fund. It will begin/end at the front entrance at Hermiston High School, 600 S. First St. The event coincides with a celebration of life — on what would have been Worstell’s 29th birthday — at 11 a.m. in the HHS Commons. The Marissa Worstell Path to Change Memorial Scholarship fund is set up through the Hermiston Education Founda- tion. It will be open to HHS students who show academic or vocational potential and due to their economic circumstances are not able to pay their total college costs. As a HHS senior, Worstell received the Altrusa Young Citizens Award during the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce Distin- guished Citizens Banquet. In addition to academic excellence, Worstell was active in student government, was a member of the Key Club, was crowned the 2010 homecom- ing queen and participated in many commu- nity service activities. Leonard ‘Rod’ Trumbull December 1, 1941 - April 14, 2022 Leonard “Rod” Trumbull passed away at his home in Umatilla, Oregon, on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the age of 80. Rod is lovingly remembered by his son, Ray Haile, of Yuma Arizona; his daughter, Elizabeth Allen, and her husband, Bob, of Umatilla; loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rod was born in Lexington, Nebraska, in 1941. He was a proud Marine Corps veteran and a very successful businessman and property developer in the surrounding areas of Boise, Idaho, for numerous years. Rod was an avid and very successful pilot, backwoods hunter and no fish were safe no matter whether they were in creeks, rivers, inland waters or the open ocean. He was also an amazing craftsman, building several beautiful pieces of wood-working marvels, including his prized poker table and cribbage boards, his favorite game. Rod will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by all his family, friends and colleagues.
