Umatilla County Sheriff ’s Offi ce took a report. 9:37 a.m. — A resident in the area of Southeast Skyline Drive and Chase Street, Heppner, reported 12-15 neighbors are upset with the youths riding dirt bikes at all hours of the day in a nearby fi eld. She said she would call again if the Morrow County Sheriff ’s Offi ce does not address this issue. 9:49 a.m. — A caller reported a man was lying in the bushes at Pheasant Court and River Ridge Drive, Boardman. Police responded and found he was working on a water line. 10:07 a.m. — Pendleton police received a report of a burglary at Pendleton Riverside Apartments, 1300 N.W. Carden Ave. Police took a report. 1:48 p.m. — A resident on Northeast Seventh Street, Irrigon, made a complaint about people living in a camp trailer in a drive- way who yell and fi ght throughout the night. The caller also said a lot of traffi c speeds through the area. 5:32 p.m. — A caller on Southeast 11th Street, Irrigon, reported two dogs came up to her and her mother and one dog bit her mother, who declined medical help. 8:36 p.m. — A 911 caller at Crossroads Truck Stop, 2020 Sixth St., Umatilla, reported there was a man on the east side of the building, screaming and pushing on the side door. 8:44 p.m. — Emergency services responded to the Boardman Rest Area Eastbound on Interstate 84 for a vehicle with an engine block fi re. 10:44 p.m. — A resident on Wagon Wheel Loop, Irrigon, reported her boyfriend threatened to destroy her and her car. Robert Gordon Chapman April 16, 1931 - March 12, 2022 Chapman, Robert Gordon, age 90, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Saturday, March 12, 2022, in Walla Walla, Washington. He was born April 16, 1931, in Troy, Idaho, to George and Clara (Trevithick) Chapman. Beginning school in Troy, the family moved to Mil- ton-Freewater where he graduated from McLoughlin High School. In 1951, Bob joined the Army and served his time in Korea as a medical technician. While in the Army, he married the love of his life. Betty Zane Lands- dale, on Nov. 17, 1953, and lived in Olympia Washing- ton, until his discharge in 1954. Shortly after, the couple moved to Klamath Falls where Bob attended Oregon Institute of Technology and after he began his lifelong career as an electrician. Throughout the years, Bob and Betty lived in Olympia, Klamath Falls, Hermiston, Pendleton and John Day. Bob retired in 1993 and they moved to Walla Walla, Washington. Bob and Betty were members of the Worldwide Fel- lowship of Christians. Betty passed away in Walla Wal- la on July 11, 2021. They loved the outdoors and were avid hikers and enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling, travel- ing, and camping with their many friends and family. Bob is survived by their two children, Phil Chap- man, Connie Cooper, four grandchildren, Zane Chap- man, Joel Chapman, Andrew Chapman, Taylor Cooper; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater on Saturday, March 26, at 10 a.m., followed by a graveside service with military honors at the Weston Cemetery. (Kathy Street 541-481-3365) Saturday, March 19, 2022 Betty Lou (Bjerke) Getchell July 28, 1945 - February 25, 2022 Betty Lou (Bjerke) Getchell of Hermiston, Oregon, was born on July 28, 1945, in Hermiston, Oregon, to parents, Edwin and Gladys Bry Bjerke. She passed away on Feb. 25, 2022, in Kennewick, Washington, at the age of 76 years. Betty was raised and attended school in Hermiston, Oregon, graduating from Hermiston High School in the class of 1963. She married Gerald Leon “Jerry” Getchell on Dec. 29, 1963, in Hermiston, Oregon. They started their family and Betty was a stay-at-home mom for several years. She then owned and operated Eastern Oregon Credit Bureau for 10 years before retiring at the age of 38 due to health reasons. Betty was a homemaker from then on and was committed to making it to her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities no matter where they were. She enjoyed puzzles, camping and getting together with her sister and friends for an afternoon of playing dominos and sharing deliciously prepared snacks. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Getchell; sons, Brian Getchell (Chris), Brett Getchell (Bonnie) and Ed Getchell; daughter, Jeri Marie Gossett; grandchildren, Danielle Rambo (Aaron), Natasha Getchell (Dave), Mitch Boylan (Kayla), Hanna Findley, Darren Gossett, Justine Hively (Brandon), Michael Williams, Christopher Williams, Tyler Pagliarulo (Jenny), Cole Pagliarulo, Ryan Pagliarulo (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Lilly, Kellen, Carter, Sarah, Luke, Everett, Paxton; brother, Ed Bjerke; sisters, Carol McGarry and Gloria Stephens; numerous nieces and nephews. She was born in Washington, D.C., to Robert and Thais (Bennett) Smith and the oldest of four children. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in 1960. After high school, she worked as a secretary at the Great Lakes Naval Base; met Keith Harris in Waukegan, Illinois, and they married in 1963. The family moved to Pendleton in 1974 where she met many new friends and was involved in her community and with her children's activities. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic parish where she loved going to church with her family. She worked at the East Oregonian newspaper classified department, various educational assistant positions with local schools, Oregon State Hospital and for Blue Mountain Community College’s education department at the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution, where she retired after over 20 years. She liked trying her luck playing bingo and loved trips to visit her family. She loved and adored her grandchildren, Whitney, Kaitlyn, Calvin, Laura, Sean, Emily and Shae. Her first great-grandchild is due in July. Mary also adored all her nieces and nephews. Mary passed away from cancer and is greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Keith; daughter, Lisa; sons, Michael and Tim Harris; and brother, Robert Smith. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and Ron Smith; and her daughter, Chris Wilkins. A Catholic service will be held on Friday, March 25 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Skyview Cemetery.
