LA GRANDE — The Blue-
Mountaineers return with the
end-of-the-month dance on
Saturday, Feb. 26, 6-9 p.m. at
the Union County Senior Cen-
ter, 1504 N. Albany St. This is
the fi rst community dance at
the senior center in two years,
said Denny Langford, one of the
organizers.
Admission is $5 per person,
or free for ages 12 and younger.
There also will be a fi nger food
potluck and door prizes. All are
welcome.

egon University’s music depart-
ment will present “We’ve Got
Your Number” at 7:30 p.m. Friday,
Feb. 25, and Saturday, Feb. 26,
at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Perfor-
mances are in McKenzie Theatre,
located inside Loso Hall on the
EOU campus.
Tickets are $8 adults, $7
students/seniors and are avail-
able at Red Cross Drug, the
EOU Bookstore, and online at
CANYON CITY — Painted
Sky Center for the Arts, 118
Washington St., will have a
four-session class on creating
short, powerful poetry starting
Wednesday, March 2, 5:30 p.m.
The course will entail mas-
tering a few basic principles of
short poetry creation, compar-
ing some works of others, fol-
lowed by numerous short writing
cycles. In each writing cycle,
a stimulus will be presented
followed by an in-class writing
session and optional sharing of
work. In each class, there will be
an optional homework assign-
ment.
This class is for ages third
grade and older. Each student
should bring a notebook and a
pen or pencil. This class meets
for four sessions — March 2, 9,
16 and 23. Cost is $72 members
or $80 nonmembers. Scholar-
ships are available. Register

High School student-athlete
Tanner Carey as he performs
stand-up comedy on Friday,
March 4, at Electric Sundown,
BAKER CITY — On Saturday,
March 5, Cathy Treadway will
teach her second barn quilt
painting workshop, 9:30 a.m.-
3 p.m., at Crossroads Carnegie
Art Center. This is for ages 12
and older. In this all-day work-
shop participants will paint a
square board that is for exterior
display. There will be an assort-
ment of quilt block patterns to
choose from, or bring your own.
Cost varies by the size of block: a
2-foot square is $100 members,
$150 nonmembers; a 1-foot
square is $93 members, $139.50
