He is survived by his wife, Judy Pace, siblings Cindy LeGore, Bob Pace and Lar- ry Pace, many nieces, neph- ews, cousins and many other relatives. especially personal and traditional cemetery of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reser- vation. If you see Jim's carved head stones, you would see the story of the in- dividual named within the head stone. Jim was pro- ceeded in death by his son, Kristopher Pace, brother Daniel Pace, mother Gen- evieve Pace and his father James Pace. Jim was also a story teller with a knack for holding the listener in his grip. If you were a listener to one of Jim's stories, you are either grinning or shaking your head. Jim will be missed dearly and remembered for many years to come. Jim was born 100 years late in life. Jim's passion in life was his desire to help the underdog. Jim worked for himself, many of his later years in life, spend- ing many hours drawing, designing and carving head stones for those who asked. Jim did not have a "rock" he did not like. Many of the head stones Jim carved were captured from the wild and brought to life in many cemeter- ies in Umatilla County, There is a decal in tribute to Jim's passing at D&G Gifts, which can be placed on most any ob- ject. You can give D&G Gifts a call and order your own. There will be plans for a celebration of life later in the spring. We love you, Jim. Ray was a part of CSEPP (Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program) and he also served time as the Mor- row County Commission- er. He loved classical mu- sic and was never hesitant to share his true feelings with those around him. Eric Scott Carlos of Athena, Oregon, died at his home on December 3, 2021. Eric was born at St. An- thony hospital in Pendleton, Ore- gon on Decem- ber 19, 1966 to Sandra Tolleson and Thomas Carlos. Eric most- ly grew up in Eastern Oregon. After high school, Eric joined the military and spent al- most 20 years in the Unit- ed States Army National Guard and Active United States Army. Eric’s mili- tary career included com- bat in the Persian Gulf War, becoming a Military Policeman and assisting in disaster relief efforts during Hurricane Katrina. Eric was also based in Frankfurt Germany for a time and spoke often of his fondness for German culture and countryside. After serving in the ac- tive military Eric returned to Eastern Oregon. In ad- dition to his experience as a Military Policeman he was also able to occasion- ally volunteer with the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office and spent over a decade as a Correctional Officer at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institute and later a brief employment with Two Rivers Correc- tional Institute. Eric also spent several years work- ing in Security at Wild- horse Casino & Resort. A n y o n e who knew Eric knows he loved to dream, had a big heart, loved to laugh and to tell tall tales. Very much like his mother and father, Eric had passions for many things in life includ- ing tinkering, firearms, hunting, horses, music, cooking, the outdoors and basically anything that had to do with law en- forcement or the military. Eric no doubt had many more adventures, stories and important moments that may not have been shared here but many of us will carry those memories on and thus he will live on. With that we should find peace and trust that Eric is final- ly sitting straight in the saddle, he’s got his head held up high, keeping his eyes fixed where trail meets sky, is not afraid, and enjoying the ride... and probably listening to Chris LeDoux. Eric is survived by his daughter, Marissa & son Thomas. There are plans to honor the spreading of his ashes in the spring. There are no plans for a service at this time.
