OARDMAN — Employees
of the SAGE Center and
the Port of Morrow have been
making a list and checking it
twice since the end of October.
And the fruits of their efforts
have paid off — illuminating
the holiday season with around
500,000 lights at the interactive
visitor center in Boardman.
Torrie Griggs, the center’s
manager, said people will see
some new additions to this
year’s Christmas Light Show,
including Santa taking flight
and lighted presents along the
light show loops. Also, Griggs
said the display now features all
LED lights.

show, which is synchronized to
music, features eight holiday

door speakers, Griggs said they
revamped the radio station for
improved audio sound.
“We made a lot of improve-
ments for the show quality,”
she said.
The Christmas Light Show
recently got underway at 101
Olson Road in Boardman. The
display will shine nightly from
dark to daylight through Dec.
31. There is no admission
charge.

Now in its sixth year, the an-
nual Christmas Light Show was
the only event held in 2020 at
the SAGE Center. Griggs said
the push for the festive holiday
display came from the former
Port of Morrow general man-
ager.
“It was Gary Neal’s vision to
have a robust Christmas Light
Show in Boardman for all to en-
joy,” Griggs said. “It’s a way to
provide the Christmas spirit to
the community and passersby.”
With the SAGE Center lo-
cated just off Interstate 84, it
can be seen from the freeway
in either direction. A pair of
convenient exits — at milepost
164 and milepost 165 —
allow people easy access to
hop off the freeway to get a
closer look.
