The Pirates, who won the league title with an 8-0 record, finished the season with a 15-2 record. They lost in the 3A/2A/1A state semifinals to dayton 2-1. In addition to Napoles, riverside had seven other play- ers named to the all-league first team — seniors adair rodri- guez, Pablo claustro, diego magana, Trinidad mendoza, benny sanchez, bert sanchez, and sophomore goalkeeper Juan medina. The bulldogs placed fourth at the 2a/3a state tournament, going 2-2. chiawana, which won the 4a state title, had infielder sawyer sten- son named mcc Player of the year, while the river- hawks’ brian Thomas was named coach of the year by his peers. rodriguez powered the bulldogs all season, hitting .701 with seven home runs, 32 rbIs and has scored 36 runs heading into state. she also did not commit an error. south hit .600 with four home runs. Named to the second team were junior macey Tovar (infield), senior Kaylee billsbourough (infield), sophomore Alli Serna (infield), senior Kendyl Inners (outfield) and freshman rylee richman. serna has hit .621 with 17 rbIs and 34 runs scored, while Tovar hit .656 with a handful of doubles. richman hit .547 with 12 rbIs and 34 runs scored, and Inners hit .636 with five home runs.
