in Eastern Oregon,
in recent memory, will be
played Saturday, Nov. 13, as
Heppner hosts Weston-McE-
wen in the 2A state quarter-
fi nals.
While the top-ranked
Mustangs come into the game
on a 28-game win streak,

Cardinals, Rockets earn SD2 honors

IONE — The Ione/
Arlington Cardinals, who
qualified for the Class
1A state playoffs, placed
six players on the Special
District 2 all-league foot-
ball team.
Senior Taylor Rollins
was a fi rst team kicker and
punter, also was named to
the second team as a running
back and guard and was an
honorable mention selection
at linebacker.
Rollins rolled up 712
yards rushing on 91 carries
for 13 touchdowns. He also
led the team with 106 tack-
les.
Azriel Borghese was
named a second-team
receiver. He had 28 recep-
tions for 322 yards and seven
touchdowns.
Bryce Rollins was a
second-team guard and
defensive end. He had 82
tackles and led the team with
nine quarterback sacks.

selected as an honorable
mention quarterback and

named to the Old Oregon
League all-league volley-
ball team after helping the
Golden Eagles to their fi rst
appearance in the OOL
district tournament since
the program began in 2014.
“She’s an amazing
player with a consistent
serve, with the quickness to
pass/save balls that weren’t
necessarily in her area,”
Nixyaawii coach Jacinthia
Stanley said. “She was one
of our key blockers and
always had a good attitude.
She will return next year as
a senior, and we are very
excited about that.”
Nixyaawii junior Grace
Moses-Watchman was
selected to the honorable
mention team, as was Gris-
wold sophomore Ainsley
Curtiss.
The Golden Eagles
fi nished with a 7-8 overall
record, while the Grizzlies
were 5-12.

Arguello and defender
Emilio Nunez were selected
to the Northwest Athletic
Conference East Region
All-Star Team.
Arguello and Nunez
also will play in the NWAC
All-Star Game at 9 a.m.
Sunday at the Starfire
Complex in Tukwila, Wash-
ington.
The Timber wolves
fi nished the season with a
7-5-1 record. They lost a 5-4
game to Everett on Nov. 3, in
the fi rst round of the NWAC
Arguello
Nunez
regional playoff s.
BMCC hosted the playoff
game, which was a fi rst for
the Timberwolves in school
history.
Nunez, a sophomore from
Hermiston, fi nished with one
assist on the season, but was
part of a defense that allowed
just 1.38 goals a game.
Arguello, a freshman
from Caldwell, Idaho, scored
a team-high eight goals and
had three assists.
Reymundo Mendez of
Columbia Basin College was
named Player of the Year,
while North Idaho’s Ken
Thompson was selected as
the Coach of the Year.
