McElligott Memorial Scholarship. Tristan Estabrook, a senior studying nursing at Oregon Health Sciences University and a repeat awardee, received $3,500. Zoey Gilbert, a sophomore studying nuclear and industrial radiologic technologies at Blue Mountain Community College, and Annabella McDaniel, a sopho- more studying child, family and social work at Blue Moun- tain Community College, each received $2,500. The Maryan L. McElligott Memorial Scholarship fund has awarded scholarships to Ione High School alumni each year since 1997. The scholarship is open to all college under- graduates, with preference given to students in their soph- omore year and above. The fund was established in her memory after she lost her battle with cancer. Maryan McElligott was an energetic community volun- teer who was recognized in 1992 as the Morrow County Woman of the Year. She placed a high value on community involvement. She volunteered in the schools, the Ameri- can Legion Auxiliary Ione Post 95, and was a 20-year 4-H leader. An avid baker, she was well-known for her cakes and taught cake decorating classes through Blue Mountain Community College. Education was very important to her. Maryan and her late husband, L.J. McElligott who passed in March 2020, raised eight children, all of whom graduated from Ione High School as well as college; fi ve have received graduate degrees. “Preference is given to students in their sophomore through senior years of college. However, we encourage students to apply every single year of one’s college experi- ence,” said Vince McElligott, committee chair. The scholarship committee is composed of Ione residents Monica Swanson, Linda LaRue and Anne Morter, as well as, Matthew McElligott of North Powder and Vince McElligott of Houston, Texas, two of Maryan’s sons. Scholarships are awarded to students who share and demonstrate Maryan’s values, but may lack financial resources needed to pursue their college education. The following criteria are used to select scholarship recipi- ents: high academic achievement; demonstrated character; community, family and school involvement; and fi nancial need. The L.J. McElligott family initially set up the endow- ment fund in 1994, and it is administered by the Oregon Community Foundation. The Maryan L. McElligott Memorial Scholarship fund makes annual awards to graduates of Ione High School who are enrolled or will be enrolled in a full-time under- graduate course of study at any accredited post-secondary institution, including out-of-state institutions. Applicants, including McElligott scholarship recipients, may reapply each year as long as they meet the eligibility requirements. All Ione Community Charter School graduates are encour- aged to apply. Applications are available through the Oregon Student Access Commission at www.oregonstudentaid.gov. — EO Media Group LOTTERY Friday, June 25, 2021 Megamillions 17-20-42-45-65 Megaball: 12 Megaplier: 4 Estimated jackpot: $50 million Lucky Lines 02-07-10-16-18-22-27-30 Estimated jackpot: $72,000 Pick 4 1 p.m.: 5-7-6-0 4 p.m.: 3-9-9-8 7 p.m.: 5-0-7-0 10 p.m.: 1-5-3-1 Saturday, June 26, 2021 Powerball 08-31-39-43-60 Powerball: 17 Power Play: 3 Estimated jackpot: $75 million A5 watching pornography with them.
